hello all i have a question

recently i had a my Disco off the road (SORN) as i was fitting an autogas system to it as it come time to put the old girl back on the road it was around Easter when we had all the bank hols Friday to Monday well i put my car on the road on Monday night knowing it didn't have a tax disc did have MOT and insurance as i was going to get the tax disc in the post office first thing Thursday so i connected my un-taxed disco to my Taxed ford mondeo. next morning 8.10 am my lovly disco got lifted and taken away the only way i no this is because of my cctv system you could clearly see them removing the winch wire and lifting the car onto a lorry and taking it away even before the post office was open at 9. i payed the clampers to get my car back but the DVLA want +£200 as well but i was always told if an un-tax car or even a caravan is to be parked in the road then it must be attached to a TAXED car so it is on tow and legal ? would like to have your thoughts

nope, if it's wheels (even if only 2 of them) are on the road, it must be taxed.
the only way you could have been legal is if it was on a trailer.

Only way out would be if engine was removed. It would then not technically be a "mechanically propelled vehicle" and would not then come under the Vehicle Excise Act.

which of your neighbours dont you get on with? cause if you parked it on the road monday night and it was lifted by clampers on tuesday at 0810 then they reported it,if you have another car why did you put on the road anyway untill you taxed it,the authorities are only there to relieve you of as much cash as possible, get your wallet out you only have yourself to blame for this one,

It should have had an untaxed vehicle sticker placed on the windscreen with a removal notice and a stated period of time before it was taken away normally 24 hrs, thats what the dvla do around here anyway.

round here they clamp in morning then pick them up in afternoon.I was having a smoke outside work last week ther wer two guy's outside clamping a car no tax.The one guy said not even ten and we have nearly run out of clamps already:eek:The transits with the cameras are down our street at least once a month sometimes once a fortnight
