DT 1999 P38 EAS & Heater Display Panel Niggles

Hi, I have problems with EAS.... so far, a new compressor, and both rear ride height sensors replaced.

The problems continue... 1... in slow traffic, the EAS sometimes pumps itself up to off road height.... when over 35mph again, she lowers to normal again.
2... for no apparent reason, the car will pump the drivers side (RH) up to (I've got the tape measure out) 7-9 cm higher than the passenger side... the lights don't flash, and the normal ride height mode stays lit. As there are no leaks, the car just then stays like that until I manually sod about with the Height selector button. This is a regular occurrence.

I always had problem 1, from day 1, but problem 2 started after the new compressor was fitted...and the 2 rear sensors don't seem to have made any difference. Diagnostix machine says all as it should be, with no faults... but the real world is different.

Have read that relay 20 could be the culprit, and would like to remove it for a visual inspection for starters... What I want to know is, if I pull this relay out, will it trigger some type of fault code, neccessitating a VERY SLOW trip back to the Mechanic / Diagnostix machine for a reset, and fault clear? That wouldn't make me too popular with the wife.....! Thanks in advance...

Also, although all Climate Control stuff seems to work ok, I now and again get the little book on the display...have read that relay no 7 is worth a look to check its condition.... any advice please??

Download the free EAS software from www.rswsolutions.com then you can check and reset any faults yourself.

At a guess, I would say you have trouble with the valve block or the driver module, however if there are no faults logged when it goes up on the drivers side, then the EAS ECU must be unaware of the changed position which might suggest you have a bad electrical connection somewhere.

There are several things you can try.
1) Buy via Ebay or go direct to www.RSWsolutions.com and get the EAS software and lead, or make your own and then you can check your EAS stuff at your leisure. You can watch the ride height sensors at work! I have assumed you have a laptop!

With your Hevac (Air con) take out the radio to give you room and check that all your multi-connectors are plugged in properly. I found that 2 of mine were half out! The little book can mean that your pressure is low, not that you have a leak, but over time the pressure does go, remedy is to have it topped up BUT get who ever does it to purge the system first with Nitrogen and then do a pressure test. Don't waste your money on the refrigerant if you have a leak!

Hi, thanks for the advice, I have ordered said cable and software, and now await it...

Another definite thing that happened this morning may mean something to someone...

It did its thing of pumping up to much higher on the drivers side this morning, whilst driving along, with the light still on normal, and no eas faults...

So, I pulled over onto a flat surface, opened the window, got out, shut the door, and pushed the height selector up to max. (Off road height).

As expected, it did a little dance, and then brought up the passenger side to match the drivers side, with the correct lights showing.

HOWEVER.... from the rear RH (drivers side) corner, came the unmistakable sound of air escaping rapidly... there were 2 definite bursts of escaping air...

1.... as I initally pressed the button and started to move, and

2.... during the final levelling process at the new height.

Now, I know that the airbags have no leaks, so... a seating problem?? And if so, what is a solution?

Also, is it possible to Manually select Motorway mode?? Cos if I'm at Normal mode and press Lower, it goes straight to Access mode...
