Ok wise people......

Any tips on how the fecking top cup of the ball joint can be put back in easily ...or at least the trick to it. I cannot get it to go in any further than 3-4mm. Seems to start going in then sticks on one side and wont go any further.I've tried using a g clamp with a socket to wind it in and a hammer and socket. Wallop my finger and given up now. The old one looks clean and unmarked so can I just put this back in or advisable to persevere with the new cup. ????

I'm new to this home diy car mechanic malarkey and obviously not very skilled ......but what is the disco conversion and how hard?

With the top cup, I've found that pushing them in or pressing them in is difficult because they skew and jam. I prefer to tap them in with a drift because then you can correct it if it starts going in at an angle. Here's a picture from last time I changed one. I've wedged a sledge hammer above the arm so as to give me something firm to hammer against so the arm doesn't bounce around:

Finally in after more battles with the spring and circlip. I'll either be doing the discovery conversion or just buying the drop arm and ball joint complete. Can't be arsed with that battle again but pleased I didn't have to admit defeat and take it to the garage.

Now for the next jobs.....
