Hi

Is it OK to drive my 90 with the rear prop shaft removed ?

I know I will have to have diff lock on but am I right in thinking this is ok to drive on the road ?

Cheers

Yes, but why? If it's 'cos the rear diffs nackered, then think about the halfshafts too .. ;)

I drove mine 50 mile fom a pay and play with prop off and half shafts out. Then nipping here and there till I got another axle cos diff blew out of casing. Didn't do no damage to transfer box.

its fine to drive on the road in two wheel drive i was going to do this to the wifes disco when the rubber between the drive shaft and diff drive flange went gauging both very deeply but got parts quick and cheap replaced the shaft an rubber and flange and off she drove as happy as can be :)

Basically I have removed the rear propshaft to sort the transmission brake out which isn't working.
I'm not going to get around to it this week and the weekend I need to take it on a 12 mile round trip to get a hole cut in the top of the wing for my snorkel.

Just bear in mind that all the drive torque will be going through the front diff, rather than being shared front/rear. Avoid racing starts and you should be OK.
