You don't hear anyone moaning about lro/protrax taking money off people for trips! £110 for weekend at last count with no camping fees etc. I was happy to pay as a newbie

A tour guide who walks people around the streets of London, is doing exactly the same thing, but people don't get bent out of shape about that.

You are paying for a service.......a guided tour, for someone's time and expenses............if you are nor comfortable with that, then don't do it. But if someone is content to pay for it, then let them. Freedom of choice. I don't think the tax man would be interested in someone making a couple of hundred quid a year out of an extended hobby FFS...........and reporting someone for something as harmless as that would be ****ish in my opinion.

Would you feel the same if they took you on a TRO and got your vehicle crushed?

bet they would cos its a income.

A fiver is a bit different to 90 quid tho bump.... the 90 quid per vehicle covers campsite fees... the payer has to pay for fuel, food, and any other expenses... whats left goes to the members of the "club" and is split evenly .. well after the admin takes the first round of drinks out of it...
the website sed a oner yesterday. However they may be changing it as we speak. theres been a lot of backtracking lately

your a knob and a newb. Protrax are held in very low regrd on here. Do a ****ing search:doh:

Dew, I seem to remember you now. The time you asked me for help with laneing would that have been the time you were banned from a number of forums that I also use??

If your not the same Drew then sorry.

if punters are prepared to pay for a day out i dont see the problem...provided whoever is organising the day does it properly and legally. ... provided its all done legally i dont see why people have a problem with someone trying to make a few quid providing a service that someone is prepared to pay for. jeep safaris on dirt tracks are quite common in tourist areas abroad

I am sorry. Didn't realise I had to search every thing before I posted. This site is full of aggressive people who basically want to insult people

In my first post I said that taking people to off-limit lanes is out of order..........That kind of goes without saying.

But a lot of comments are just about the charging for laning........and I cannot see a problem with that as long at people aint left out on a limb on an off limit lane, after paying to be escorted there.

To be honest, the whole byways thing is a ****ing big confusing mess at times, with more acronyms than a government paper on acronyms. And when you get to a lot of lanes, there are damaged signs, out of date signs, NO SIGNS etc etc............If we are all honest, we have all probably used restricted lanes at some point. I have used my OS map, driven **** knows how far to a lane, gone up it cos there was no sign, then someone has stopped me and started having a whinge about a TRO or whatever. Sometimes its difficult to know, and when you get there, the last thing you want to do is turnaround and go home or whatever. It doesn't make me the Yorkshire Ripper FFS. If there was a decent, big and clear sign or a barrier, then I would respect it. If there aint a visible sign or notice, then what are people supposed to do?

So rather than spend ten years on the internet looking for TRO's etc, its easier to chuck someone a fiver, who (hopefully) has done all the work upfront, which makes life easier.

The problem arises when Councillors see firms using green lanes for profit. Why should they keep lanes open if firms are using them for money making purposes when they have to maintain them? It just gives them more ammo for closing lanes. Especially when idoiots are going on TRO's and videoing themselves ripping up lanes;)
