driving tro'd lanes

I don't necessarily agree with charging people for going laning, but if they are willing to pay instead of buying a map or doing the research, then what is the problem?...........nobody is putting a gun to their heads. You are paying for a guided tour in effect, the same as one around the streets of a city.

Although taking paying people to off-limit lanes (allegedly) is naughty, as it could land 'em in ****.........

There is nothing in law to stop them charging for taking people laneing. But if it is a group of over 10 (I think the number is 10 could be 12, memory is going with old age!!)then they have to inform the police. Also taking out a large group is just going to trash the lanes more. Now if they put all the profit into the up keep of the lanes then it would be not as bad.

many years back i asked for your advice and you gave me the 2 finger salute so look to yourself befor slateing others when people ask for help and it is refused is there any wounder why people do what thay want
lucky for me i got help from other peopl who gave a **** so take your head out of your arse mate

For a start I do not remember you asking me. If you did then I might not have given you help as I do not know how your going to drive on the lanes. I have always taken people out laneing with me for FREE when I can, that way I can teach them how to treat the lanes. I am also happy to show people how to read map. But people who ask "where are the lanes" will not get much help form anyone.

I would still take you out for a days laneing, even with you sounding like a ****!!

Edit to add, Just ask people on here to see how mane I have given help to?

Norty boys been driving tro's and ripping up the countryside and have admitted it. Oh they is currently deleting all photos and vids and hiding under the stairs incase pc plod knocks on the doors:D:D
I think you will find it was a group of lzers riping up the countryside going up a hillside off piste. we came the opposite way down hill and never strayed off track.
the lane didnt show as been tro`d when checked and the notice at the start of the lane was out of date anyway.
The op was in the group we witnessed from a distance whilst having lunch very clearly going off piste is an lz member who joined our forum in november and didnt like being questioned by us for his actions on the lane in question and is there fore discruntled and posting on here. It is his actions you need to be questioning, as are the ones in a recent thread on here where the op talks of a laning trip he did (nothing to do with nort) that used foot paths and bridleways, a trip i hasten to ad that was advertised and talked about on here, with all participants being lzers
There was one other member who was leading who also is an lz member not sure about all the others.

I am not fussed who I offend. But as I said if you asked then I give a reason if I did not. That does not mean I would not lead you around some lanes. I will always try to help out, but I will not just give info out without know how it is going to be used. So If you comeing up this way and want to do some lanes I will help out. But if anyone who comes laneing with me and does not respect the lanes them I will tell them where to go.

Hi Paul, I think it is 12 and that goes for any public highway, i agree that taking out a large group would trash some lanes, but not all. We always try to keep groups down to a max of 6 with one of us leading and one behind, we will not tollerate any members driving off piste and this is what happened to the op we witnessed at the weekend. He is/was a member on our forum but was in no way linked with our trip of this weekend. we met up with them as we where having lunch at the start/end of the lane. As stated before we travelled the lane in the direction we did as we knew the uphill section could be difficult for inexperienced guests, and as we have no idea as to there experience we assume they have very little.
There was no issues of any kind and no obsticles that required deviation from the track to avoid in the direction we travelled, however the op and his group found on an uphill side slope they might have been at such an angle it would have meant their vehicle touching a bank to one side, to avoid this several of the group drove up the grass bank to one side, taking up to 5 attempts and destroying the terrain hiddiously. we then witnessed atleast 5 of the group desperatly trying to get the dog they took with them that was busy after sheep. We do not tollerate this behaviour and the op was told as much on our forum , he didnt like it and is no longer a member. hence his posting on here
I know we get slated for charging people for laning but this is only on a web site or other internet sites none of our members have everpaid for a trip and never will, we find most people who pay for our trips do not know where they can or can not drive. i know i didnt and when i first asked on sites like this i was told to **** off and find my own, just like many others i didnt know how to, now i do. so surely getting people to pay a contribution to our fuel costs to show them some lanes and some stunning views is putting a little back. We do give information on what can and can not be driven. We have had a few groups who prior to coming on a trip with us where just driving anywhere they liked, so hopefully weve edjucated them a little.
It certainly isnt going to make anyone rich, thats not what its about. The cost to myself personally last week end was over 4 times what i was paid.

Surely taking out people who can't drive is a bit wrong. Maybe they should at least have a licence:doh::doh::doh:

As for charging for taking people laneing. The people who charge for taking people out should be reported to the tax man at first (as they probabley do not pay tax on the earings). Then gived a good going over with a base ball bat. Around the head that is, as shoving it up their arsses would give them too much enjoyment!!!!!

I have never charged anyone for taking them laneing, I could have and made a lot from it. But I do not.

charging for taking people out on public roads... fkin unbelivable...

i say report to the tax man!

The club i am most involved with (organise trips for, etc.) charge £5.00 a trip per vehicle, all the money goes into the club bank account which is in the clubs name, not anyone personal. The money is then used to buy maps, memory maps, pdas, etc. all of which are available for club members to borrow and use. The club also owns some handheld CB's which members can borrow if they don't have a CB in their landy.
Each year we meet up for a Christmas meal and depending what the club finances look like the club will often pay for the meal or at least the drinks.
The club also has insurance which is paid for from the central pot.

No individual benefits in anyway financially from the club,

Nobody has ever had an issue with paying for a laning trip and i don't see why this should cause such a big problem?

A fiver is a bit different to 90 quid tho bump.... the 90 quid per vehicle covers campsite fees... the payer has to pay for fuel, food, and any other expenses... whats left goes to the members of the "club" and is split evenly .. well after the admin takes the first round of drinks out of it...

A tour guide who walks people around the streets of London, is doing exactly the same thing, but people don't get bent out of shape about that.

You are paying for a service.......a guided tour, for someone's time and expenses............if you are nor comfortable with that, then don't do it. But if someone is content to pay for it, then let them. Freedom of choice. I don't think the tax man would be interested in someone making a couple of hundred quid a year out of an extended hobby FFS...........and reporting someone for something as harmless as that would be ****ish in my opinion.
