went to a meeting this morning then all finished for the day so i rang the mrs and asked if she fancied breakfast at frankie and bennys she said she will be back in two mins just leaving Tesco meet me at home. im in the Nissan Navara shes in the l322 . she pulled up outside i was waiting in the truck as it was to cold to stand outside. she got out of the drivers side and walked round to the passenger side. and i got in the drivers seat. just as i pulled ten yards from the house a massive hiss from under the bonnet so i quickly reversed on the drive with difficulty as the power steering wasn't working, turned the engine off and opened the bonnet, the steam was coming from the water pump ar har i have had a leak for months about a pint a week but many many searches and i could never find it. now i could!. so ordered a new pump from the motor factors and then stripped the pump out not to bad as ive done it before!. so got the new pump and fitted all back together now the belt is slipping, i couldn't get it any tighter. im freezing and pssd off any one got a solution please

From memory (will check my how to) but I think you really have to lean on the tensioner pulley when you do up the adjustment bolt to get tension in the belt...

Gonna check now!...or the belt is knackered!!

EDIT....Yep using a 17mm spanner on the tensioner put pressure on the hydraulic tensioner ram and do up the 2 bracket bolts to put tension into the belt!

i think it might be because the coolant went everywhere im wondering if i spray some detergent on it when running it will wash it off?????

yes tensioner was done fine ant , ive just tried screen wash it seems to have done the trick????? we will see tomorrow. a new belt would have been ideal but she needs the car for work tomorrow so just grasping at straws

tried the car this morning and it appears there's no slipping any more therefore looks like a dowsing of windscreen screen wash does the job to degrease a slipping belt. so why things were on a positive i thought i would treat the l322 and the Nissan navara to a new pair of front wiper blades each. to my surprise the range rover pair of blades were cheaper than the Nissan!!!! they were from euro car parts £17.70 Bosch part no 485775210 there is a pair in the box although its described as 1 item. the nissan was £13.89 for one and £3.72 for the other. to conclude news headline range rover parts cheaper than nissan
:D (the prices were by click and collect)

What brand Water pump did you get? I hope it wasn't a firstline product as i have just had my second firstline one go in under 3 years!! Have just fitted a Hella pump as this is BMW standard fit I believe.
