So the first niggle with the TD5 (bar the leaking sunroofs) are the funky locks it has developed.

It locks ok on the key.
It doesn't unlock the drivers front door on the key (all other doors unlock).
It doesn't lock when the button on the dashboard is pressed (all other doors lock).
It doesn't unlock when the button on the dashboard is pressed (all other doors unlock).

Once all the other doors are unlocked you have to unlock the door manually with the key if you are on the outside or if you are on the inside, pull the door handle twice - the first pull will pop the lock up then the second pull will undo the door.

All other doors are fine, it is purely the drivers door giving me grief.

Does it sound familiar? Can't find anything on a search as it just throws so much random stuff up.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm not an electrical person sadly

The locks can do this, mine did, mine would unlock all doors except passenger front but once that door manually unlocked it would lock with the button no problem, replacement latch fixed it.

When I bought my D2 one of the rear doors didn't unlock with the remote. To try and sort out a different issue I disconnected the battery (both leads), left it for 30 minutes or so and then touched the two leads together. It was about a week later that I realised that the door now unlocked and has been fine for the last 3 months. Might not help at all but it is free to try.

That's interesting. Possibly something electrical then!

Would be good if it was a replacement thing me bob inside but I am doubtful as you can't here anything clicking or slipping, etc...

maybe my english is not the best but reading your first post i understand exactly what HenryD did : your driver's door latch assy is f**ked... it has two motors within and a switch which all are comunicating with the central door locking system... the motors and the switch might develop an intermittent behaviour from time to time and almost always the unlock action fails first cos it's bigger job for the mechanism... in these situations the best thing is to replace the latch assy to rule it out cos that's the most common then if it doesnt cure it start to seek for other electrical/wiring issues(it's not wasted money cos it will come the time for it to fail anyway)... the wiring used to chaff where the loom enters in the door some times

i keep trying to understand why you said "locks gone ALL ..." cos as i see "all the others lock/unlock" ok:rolleyes:

I couldn't change the title

I'll pop the door card off at some point and have a nosey.
