Hi chaps,

Ongoing issue with my disco 2 is that the door doesn’t unlock, reason being the actuator has actually been fully removed and just not replaced by the previous owner, (found this to my surprise the other day). I’ve seen a few threads that say Maplins and ebay have a door actuator for 4 or 5 quid, is this correct? As the standard ones retail at a lot more? Also, how much would a garage charge for this job?

Thanks for the help!

do you mean it locks but doesnt unlock and the actuator is removed????? ...i can't understand what you are saying... that actuator(latch assy) is a "all in one" module which has two motors inside and the lock/unlock mechanism, the door would not even stay closed without it... its quite fiddly job so second hand unit might be false economy...bite the bullet and put a new assy, lubricate il well(soak it with this stuff http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NANOPROTE..._Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item4abec882e0) before fitting and it will last 10 years more

it will lock with the key fob, but doesn't unlock so i jumped to the conclusion the whole unit was removed, now you've said that it sounds logical that it's just seized?

thanks for the advice! it is appreciated,

I hope it is just seized, normally the motor just wears out.
I did email a guy in the far east who can get the motors, but he wanted ~£35.00 each and if I get caught for import duty and vat ,just too much.Bearing in mind you have to dis mantle the whole assembly to get to the motors.Easier to get a working scrappy on ebay or similar
