Door lock microswitch.

Hi all, bit of advice please, have searched but can not find anything concerning my problem.
For a while now when opening drivers door the interior light and puddle light keep flickering on and off, does not happen on other doors or boot, now it is getting worse whereas the light can sometimes take a few seconds to come on, today I had door card off and removed grommets in A post and door where wires pass through, also parted and cleaned the 3 connectors at A post, all wires look fine with no breaks, I gave all the wires a good wiggle but could not make the light flicker so assume no breaks there, I then turned my attention to the door latch and its connector. cleaned connector,[ electrical cleaner,] then gave the latch a prod the light started to flicker so I think it may be the microswitch in the latch. I believe there are 3 microswitches inside the latch but not sure which one tells the outstation that the door is open, could someone tell me which one I need to change? also does the rear door latch have the same microswitches inside.

I'm struggling with my memory a bit here but there are 3 microswitches on the drivers door: 1 does the EKA, one the pulse to the other doors to unlock and one to tell when door ajar. The other doors have only 2 on, certainly the passenger one does. Pretty certain the back ones do as well. I think the door ajar wire is pink and white on the 1995 model (mine!) but it may be different for later years. Think it is in the electrical troubleshooting part of RAVE under security.

Two micro switches operate the EKA code and the lock/unlock function from the key or FOB, one for lock the other for unlock.

hi , I have a 2000 model so is there 2 or 3 microswitches in the actuator as I cant see them in posted picture ??? also what are the i.d. of said microswitches do they have part no's ??? as I intend to remove door lock and actuatoe etc and refurb it all with new bits etc .. any pictures or info on how to refurb from a-z on drivers door would be most appreciated cheers mozz

Three in the drivers door I think Mozz. No idea of part numbers, I have a scrapper for spares so never had the need.

Don't do it, Mozz! You'll probably snap a door mushroom or something similar. Usually the microswitches are OK and it is the brushes on the motors that burn out. I never did find any replacements with long enough shafts. Best just get second-hand rear ones or MGF ones and swap the motors if they do go.

If you're REALLY set on it then I'll have a dig around in the shed and see if any part numbers are printed on the switches.

Hi Mozz,
I have a friend who is a member over on RR.NET who is a wiz with RR electronics and such like, he refurbs BECMS and can also reprogram them, he can repair knackerd keyfobs and also fit LED lights into p38 dashes, I have been in touch with him and explained my problem and he is pretty sure it is the door ajar switch playing up on mine, mine is also a 2000 model and he says he refurbs door latches for £45, not sure if that is a tad exspensive to you but if your interested I going down that route I would be more than happy to arrange it for you. let me know what you think. thanks Paul.

I'd love to know where he gets the motors from.

MGF actuator about £20 from well known auction site.

hi thanks for info ,, spoke to my mate at landrover and can get complete actuator brand new from them at £86.00 incl vat so refurb for £45 isn't economical but many thanks for the thought .... all I need now is a new ignition switch .. landrover no longer stock or make them ????????? I believe its the exact same one off bmw so gonna ring them and give em part no I believe they cost around £26.00 there plenty s/h on fleabay at £18.00 upwards no contest there then just buy new for that price ,, ok cheers matey . good luck .. regards mozz

Hi Mozz, no problem, looking at new price I suppose £45 is a tad pricey for second hand, never looked at buying new, anyway good luck with ignition switch, bloody RR are never ending
