My '97 300 TDI has a problem with the N/S front door lock.
It will open with the central locking fob ok but the button doesn't lift high enough to unlock the door. I have to use the key or lift the button manually (about 3mm) from the inside to open the door.
Is there an adjustment or will I need to replace the mechanism?

It's customary to say hello in the introduce yourself before bursting straight in looking for help but as I'm feeling generous today I'll give you this one for free.

Take the door card off and give the mechanism and all bits a good blast of WD, they tend to get bunged up with crap over time and just need a clean. :D

:welcome2: by the way.

Cheers Barmatt - apologies as I am a newby and wasn't aware of etiquette.
I will give it a go.

no worries. you'll find this forum to be the best source of technical information & help on the net, which owning a disco you might be in need of ;).

You'll also find a lot of banter & **** taking on here but if you take it in the manner it is meant and just join in it can be a lot of fun.

When you introduce yourself put some pics of your motor on if you can, we like piccies round here as some of the members ain't too good at reading :p.

I'm a newbie too but the guys on this forum are fantabulous! (yep that's a real word! lol)
Anyway I have exactly the same problem with my '96 200 TDI so guess what I'm gonna be getting the WD out at the weekend also :D
And yeah when the rain stops I'll be snapping with my Canon too ;)

I really don't think it's a 200tdi if it's a '96 but I could be wrong.

Using words like fantabulous you may want to go to the gaylander section :D:D:p

Firstly hello StickyWombat, saw your thread about your disco, glad you've finally got your Landy. I think you're the first member to have put kisses in your signature, but each to their own lol.

I got my disco about 13 months ago, and when I got it, the back door lock had this fault. Since both the passenger side door locks have gone this way, and to make the issue worse, both rear doors won't open from the inside now, as if a child lock is on. (98 300tdi XS, doesn't have a child lock as far as I know?).

Been putting off tackling this issue for a while now, but if all that is needed may just be a spray of WD40 I'll give the mechanism a blow out and a squirt (ooh matron), and see if it makes any difference. But I've no idea what could be the matter with the inside handle on the rear doors???

They have got child locks the rear doors it is on the curve under the lock mechanism and the back door it is inside and looks like a black disk with a raised line on it. Hope this helps ;)
