Hi, what should I do, I have just picked up a "good working order" land rover with a 2 week old MOT. Looking over in the morning we find 9 separate MOT fails on welding alone, 1 brake, and 1 tyres rubbing on body.
The Cab is wobbling about and can be lifted off the chassis. Ok, I should have walked away. What advice can anyone give me? The MOT is obviously dodgy, will VOSA impound the vehicle if I report it?

Take it back and challenge the MOT. If they completed it themselves suggest all work is completed at their cost. If completed by a third party demand your money back and then report.

I know this isn't usual but this is what to do:
"If you think your car has passed incorrectly

Contact your local DVSA office as soon as possible - you can find the address from your MOT test station or by calling 0300 123 9000. Find out about call charges.

If your complaint is accepted, you’ll get an appointment within 5 working days to recheck your vehicle for free as long as:
no more than 3 months has passed since the MOT test if it’s a corrosion-related problem
no more than 28 days has passed for other defects

You’ll get an inspection report listing any vehicle defects and advisory items."
If you want to appeal against a refusal to issue an MOT certificate, you get a VT17 form from the DVSA. Most garages I am told would rather come to a compromise than have DVSA (was VOSA until April 2014) crawling over them....

Wife's friend bout a car with a dodgy mot and dangerous at that, vosa got involved garage got a telling off guy that sold it got away with it, she had to scrap the car and lost all her savings and the car,

Name and shame the person selling it and the mot test station

Its gutting that people get caught out by these goons, its not just the money its the safety aspect and the feeling of being duped and robbed.
Definitely take it further, hope you get it sorted, please keep us all posted

sounds just about standard these days, seems no one has the back bone to stamp these crooks into the ground, should be a big fine and a spell in jail imho
