My brother gave my older daughter a new bike for Xmas so I needed a solution not to carry it in the boot, spare wheel mounting bike-racks might be easy to get in the UK but not in Portugal and I don't like the "fold up/wrap around the spare tire" type so...

It started with some metal left overs my father had laying around

measure twice, drill once and file to fit; ready for welding

not so bad after much grinding

primer and paint, the black stuff on the round pipes and bolts is electrical shrink wrap

fitted, the sticker is some "bling" from my brother (he is a Mad Down Hill Biker)

the square metal plate with the reflecting stripes is to comply with the road code

300km in the rain to get home and nothing fell off!!!

very nice well done looks smart :5bhurray::5bhurray: I wish people here in the uk would take more care about the bikes on the back ,you see them covering the number plates which is illegal because if they do they are supposed to have another number plate over the bike .

Well done, I'd have maybe gone for a sort of T shape where it meets the wheel to stop it twisting downwards, but for what you started with, it looks good and the finished quality is great!

You are right, I noticed that and the tire gets very pressed too, so next time I'm at my parents I'll weld some wide metal plates on each side of both ends.
