Rust, Oil leaks, rust, dodgy electrics, rust, leaky sunroofs, rust, leaky alpine windows, rust, rusty boot door hinges on the verge of breaking and did i mention rust???

don't forget you're talking about a 20 year old car, it will be a dog - but it'll be a cheap dog! £500 would be the most i'd pay if I decided it was even worth that after a thorough check...

If you're not au fait with landies, try and find someone who is!
 
The chances are it'll be easier to find the parts there ISN'T something wrong with. 99% of old discos are rotten somewhere. Most of them are rotten everywhere. Don't be fooled by a clean interior and shiny paintwork, it's the bits you can't see that'll be where the problems are.
 
Inner wings, boot floor, sills, rear door shuts, roof, chassis (the whole thing) oh and like ive just discovered on mine check the rear quarter panels actually attached to the body on its lower edge mine aint, wondered what the rattle was lol:D
 
little or no inner wings ,little or no boot floor ,
no sills + holes in the chassis ,
fooked heater oh dear the list goes on

I've bought one or two old discos over the last few years. I always assume the worst then quite often I'm pleasantly surprised when I have a proper look round it. Get underneath and have a good poke around. You'll soon see what everyone's talking about. Best plan if you don't know discos is take someone with you who does. Don't pay too much then if it turns out to be a scrapper you can recoup your cash by selling the parts. That's if there are any worth selling.
 
it's very good no oil leaks or water leaks head's been skimmed all gears work fine sun roof sills are new, exhaust is new chassis is very good no rust, drives like new and pulls very well better than my range rover classic and it's very good on derv £20 got me 215 miles and it still had more left, all it's got is a little play on steering and needs a little welding on n/s inner wing and offside outer sill what i can do, and a good wash and polish not bad i think for £375.:cool:
