Disco 4 servicing costs below from a main dealer are not bad, back in my old days with my RR it was normally £300 or £800 including only service parts and depending on milage. Same with my disco when that was main dealer serviced.

Just look at Jag, Mercs and Honda servicing costs now :(

Eh? and a D1 with it's rust or a D2 with it's ACE and electric trickery isn't a money pit?
The first of a new design are always going to suffer issues but to call it an awful car is going a bit far! Something that will go places a standard D1 won't yet actually steers properly and is quiet and comfortable as a saloon car at speed doesn't sound awful to me...

Don't shoot the messenger...!!! Was just passing on what a dealer told me ;)

Personally, a LR is supposed to be a bit noisy, have a bit of play on the steering etc...wouldn't be a proper LR without...Oh but then they aren't anymore are they..? :(

I think,the d3 also has to have section 7 mot,could be wrong,but I am sure I saw this when
I was looking into buying my 110 hardtop/utility.

They're all money pits. Maintenance costs are always high. I agree that you ned to put aside about a grand a year on top of normal running costs. Some years you get lucky, but save that year's grand because next year.....

It's part of the appeal. :5btoetap05:

agree on the xtrail quote - amazing car & apparently great off road too - jap reliability you cant really beat. but then will it have the personality / charactor the land rovers have ??
