Hello folks due to a lack of readily available Freelander 1 auxiliary sockets I've gone for a Discovery 2 one.

I have a few queries that I'm hoping some of you can I help me with.

There are 3 wires, one is power (purple/green), one is earth (black) and I have no idea what the extra (red/black) wire is for or where to connect it?

Can I (with an inline fuse) run power straight from the C594 connector?

Red / Black is the colour used for sidelights so it probs just lights up the socket when lights are on.

You can run it from any power source that is on when you want it to be, acc switch or whatever, as long as you fuse near supply with a fuse capable of protecting the size cable you use to the socket.

Mystery wire identified, cheers for that!

I've added wiring in the past, so no stranger to splicing. Would like to try and wire it in oem style though, any idea if I can get power from C594?

You'd have to post the circuit. If it is a suitable feed then don't see why not. Depends where you are fitting. The oem wiring may already be in the centre console, depends where you want the socket.

Hi Andy I have the proper one for centre console.

This is going in the boot. I'll dig the multimeter out and test it.

From memory, C594 powers the rear passenger socket if fitted, but can be used to power the boot socket if no rear passenger socket is fitted.
If you have a rear passenger socket feed already installed, then C594 should already be populated with a harness, which means you'll need to extend the harness from the rear passenger socket, to feed the boot socket as well.

C594 is empty but I do have a functioning passenger socket, perhaps facelift and pre face differ?
