I have only had my discovery 300 tdi for about 3 weeks now, the gent who i bought it from said the alarm goes off now and again well this has got more frequent, i only have a key he didnt give me a fob now my previous 96 discovery 300 commercial had a key fob so should this one have one? if so where can i get a key fob programmed?

What model year is you disco if 1995 then NO, fobs were an option. 1996MY had a passive immobiliser therefor u need a fob to remobilise the engine, unless yours has had some DIY modifications.

The likes of Remotekey can supply a new fob and I believe now can loan u the programmer, just search their site.

well when i open the doors with the key its forever going off i looked on the alarm and its amr 2109 on the alarm ecu which according to what ive read if it does need one it would be a single button one?

From VIN MA 081992 the security control unit would be AMR2109, the fob for that unit is indeed a single button one (AMR3723 when new) which is 'user programmable' how to do that has been posted in the various Forums a few times.

If the micro switch with the drivers door isn't working fully when using the key and isola ting the alarm system the alarm will activate tea, have a look at the switches operating cam as they sometimes break, u will also find another micro switch that's for the immobiliser.

Well i have found a key fob on ebay finally, is it possible to programme the new key without the original key?

haha done it all today and got it working :) no more alarm :) thanks discool for your help, now onto the next issue lmao
