Good evening.
We have recently purchased a M-reg 2.5 Discovery 300 tdi.
Unfortunately after delving around and having a better look, it has been butchered from an automatic and frankensteined in to a manual.
Wires gut everywhere, panels missing parts, bits not working. It's a disaster and i am kinda gutted to be honest. It is a Jap import, so the chassis is pretty good, lots of MOT and taxed so it was a decent truck, just a shame it belonged to a hellish DIY'er.
Anyway, the ABS fault light is up, and i am wondering if anyone out there could point me in the right direction as to whether this year of car has a diagnostic plug?
I have trawled through post on here, but no definitive answer found.
Do the Jap imports have a different plug location? What does the plug look like?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. As said earlier, a few wires and plugs have been cut/ taped up so it would be great to hear what i should be looking for.
Thanks in advance :)

Here's the port on my Jap import.........just above where your clutch pedal shouldn't be :)

Hi there, it will have a diagnostic socket but it is NOT OBD compliant, so it is unlikey to work with OBD code readers.

However, there is a test you can do which involves counting the number of blinks on a dashboard light.

Do a search on here for "ABS blink test".

That explains why the garage were unable to get a fault code when my engine check light came on, didn't realise it wasn't OBD.

Thank you very much, very much appreciated.
It's not above the clutch peddle :(
I have looked in to the blink test but still no idea where this plug is. Rumour has it 1996 was when OBD came in to these beasts, but that is just rumour.......
Still actively seeking this plug.
Surely it wouldnt have been cut off?

From very distant memory you need to look for a blue, square ish plug with 4 pins,(Same as RR Classic ) not the 16 pin OBD type.
Think its behind the drop down panel below steering column. Not done an ABS diagnosis on a D1 for several years....

Eightinavee I have found a blue squarish 4 pin plug indeed. No mention of this anywhere. Is this the one right enough?

Sounds good, check out the wire colours on the page that describes how to do the paper clip blink test.

now i see that your's is M reg so it will not have that OBD port, it has different connectors for each system, as you want to diagnose the ABS search behind trim in front of driver's door....here you have a list with connector locations, you need that 5 pin blue ABS plug http://www.autodiagnos.com/sites/default/files/Socket location_Landrover.pdf , but i saw them in the bottom of that compartment under the steering wheel, under the rim above the pedals, here is how it looks with the bridge made http://www.climbingchris.f9.co.uk/pics/PICT4714 (Small).JPG , what you found if it's 4 pin its for airbags... more info about the test attached, the figures mentioned in the diagnosis steps are at the end of the file

Gosh it's been a while, sorry, i work at sea so i've been away a while. I have managed to do this diagnostic, but, i appear to get a code 1-3 instead of 3-1. I think i may be reading it wrong. I will upload a videa link shortly of what i have from the turn of the key. Really hoping i get this sorted soon as the MOT is due in December. As always, all help greatly appreciated. Video link to follow shortly... :)

Worked, phewf.
Any help greatly appreciated.
My car is a Jap import M-reg that has been Frankensteined from an auto to a manual by the previous owner. Wires everywhere it is hellish. We bought it cheap. If this is unfixable i will just get rid, but it is actually in fantastic condition which is a shame. The speedo, clock and odometer have also stopped working. I put a new speed transduicer on her, but no change.
