Hi all
I dont know if any of you already know about this but for those that dont here is the self diagnostics for the lcd type heater fitted to the disco 2s. When the fault has been fixed the codes will dissapear.
Hope this helps some of you

Many thanks for the post - Just out of interest I tried the test and have found 2 faults namely

FC 21 & 22 which points to the solar sensor (both right and left hand) latest version of Microcat lists it a replacement at over £40 plus vat.

I have had a problem with the blower of my Discovery it is either on full or switched off, anyone know the if having a faulty solar sensor would cause this.
I have replaced the control panel and tried a new blower motor with resistor pack but it came off a newer discovery and still had the same fault after changing.

I have been toying with replacing the resistor pack but at £100 would like to explore the options first.

Don`t know if this helps.

Solar sensor
The solar sensor is mounted between the defrost outlets on the fascia. The sensor consists of two diodes which are sensitive to the brightness of the sun. When the sensor detects that sunlight radiation is high, it prompts the ATC unit to modify the temperature of the air entering the vehicle interior. The diodes can detect the direction of the sunlight and modify the air temperature to provide enhanced cooling to the required side.

If they are faulty could they be trying to cool the car (wether it needs it or not)

Fanny of the Day Award Time

Solar sensor or Sunshine sensor, was doing a bit of light reading and had one of those Eureka moments and realised the sensor measures light, well now guess who checked the sunshine sensor in the garage with the lights off.

Just rechecked whilst shining a bloody great torch at the sensor and guess what - no faults.

So smart money back on the resistor pack

There's 6 hours of my life i'll never get back, still every day's a school day, think today must have been Primary 1 revisited.
