Discovery 2 - air suspension drops

Part number for the bags is correct, but you'll also need 2 clips for each bag - P/N NTC9449.
Make sure you get the bags with the new push-fit couplings, so you don't need to try & undo the 7or8 mm connectors on the top of them - just cut the pipe with a v. sharp knife as close as you can to the union.
The old clips will be f***ked - so you'll need new ones.
As for fitting - do a search (my daughter could fit them in 20 mims - dead easy)

I have a td5 ,year 2000 with the suspension going down occasionally,it is getting more frequent.Sometimes it won't come back up at all.Does anyone have any advice. could it be the air springs or the compressor.I was thinking about converting to coil springs but someone said it may affect the insurance and you may have to remove the boot seats. Does anyone have any views on this
Jed
 HOW DID YOU GET ON WITH THE PROBLEM? I HAVE THE SAME MODEL AND PROBLEM

Hi my 2001 has had the same problem for a few monthe now
mine gave up on me when i went to Carlisle on friday and i had to have it recovered back to tees side
lucky for me my husband fitted a new ride height sensor and it has been fine since
I paid £42 but i have just seen them on ebay for £28

Well' Its happened to me today.
Drove up to my local 4x4 specialist to price up nuts and spigot rings so i can fit 17 inch wheels from a 2008 model disco.
As i was leaving. The rear end wasnt raising up to ride height level. So i pressed the levelling button on the dash and you can see that the rear end is trying to lift and does so for about 5 seconds. It then stops lifting and the light on the dash carries on flashing.
The landyman hooked it up to his diagnostics and cleared all faults but it didnt cure anything.
So looks like its either an air leak or new compressor but its gotta go in next week so he can have a look.:frusty:

do the same on the valve block, found in the black box on the chassis under the passenger seat..

converting to springs introduces insurance issues and you may have to remove the two boot seats

Just a point on this. I have been thinking about changing to springs and have read this statement before on here. So I spoke to someone I know who owns an insurance assessors business.

1) any modification can affect your insurance - even a louder stereo:eek:
2) speak to your insurance co. first and confirm in writing if they are ok.
3) get any changes assessed and certified.

RESULT - no insurance issues.

Hope this helps.

Direct Line threw a wobbly when I informed them that the previous owner had converted it to springs and wanted an extra £600 as it had been 'modified' - I also got a grilling about whether it was used offroad (no, well, not yet...!). I gave them a bit of grief over it and was told that anyone that buys a secondhand car should get its full spec and compare it with the base model spec and inform their insurer of all the differences (ie if the previous owner had had power steering as a factory-fit option, they should be informed). Bet nobody has ever bothered to do that.

Idiots. Their 'suspension has been modified' category is really designed for the chavs with lowered Vauxhall Nova GTEs... :-(

Oh well, it's back on air now!

After 4 weeks my td5 disco has dropped on it's rear again but this time has just cost me £42 for another ride hight sensor and £347 for a new compressor hopefully i will be back on the road tomorrow

To check if it's a "mamagement" or "executive" fault the first test you can do is to push the ORM switch.....if no warning sound and the passenger side is lifting normally then stops and the compressor stops too unfortunately I must say that U have an ECU or electronic connection problem, if the compressor is still working then the ECU does not receive the signal from the height sensor.....etc. Do that ORM thing and tell me what happenned.............or plug it into a testbook if you have one within reach to be sure........there are some other "unorthodox" methods to check out things but it goes with some struggle(e.g. to improvise a cable as to capture the signal from the faulty side's height sensor with the good side's connector, or to swap sensors, etc.....step by step to eliminate possibilities one after another) but is a too complicated to explain it here especially for a guy like me with a poor english:eek:

Well people I have had my car calibrated today and another 2 new ride hight sensors bought from landrover and my car still won't lift on driverside has anybody got any help for me I am very greatfull for any advise

It'll almost certainly be the airbags, irrespective of what the garage is telling you - 99% of all air suspension problems are due to airbags and they are always the first things that should be replaced if there is an air suspension problem.

Paddock Spares sell them for £63.80+vat each.

spoke to the lad who came out today, both air bags were inflating to above normal ride height but computer was saying 1 side was 10mm higher than the other but it was opposite to what the vehicle was doing. replaced both rear levelling valves with landrover ones as the others fitted were britpart. lad thought this was the problem a faulty or poor sensor. now the vehicle sits higher on the n/s and lifts only partialy on the o/s as if the calibration is wrong again. does it need re calibrating again as more new level sensors have been fitted ??
