Hi all,
ive just recieved a new window reg. and have been trawling the net for a fitting instruction with pics preferably... i have the haynes manual but find it a tad compliacted to follow... i have the door stripped down ready to go how do i marry up the gear to the motor in the correct position... need help here asap. Thanks in advance

It is very easy. I had to fix the drivers door regulator some time ago as the toothed arm fell off, it's done it again so this time i'll replace the whole regulator. The nearside is playing up so i'm going to do that one as well.

Anyway. From memory it is possible to do it within 20 mins and I did it so it's not that hard!!

Once the door card and damp proofing is off/out of the way I think you just undo all the bolts apart from the motor. I think I taped the window in a half open position so I could loosen the bolts holding it to the regulator and let the regulater fall down and away.

'I Think' doesn't really help you but I'm hoping to do mine soon and the memories should come flooding back and i'll post some pictures after i've done it.

Just like as stated by broardoakboy above, I did one a few years ago although I had to have two atempts at fitting the new one as it didn't lift the glass fully the first time so took me around 3/4 of an hour :)

The LRO mag showed how to do it but that was sometime ago and they did it with removing the door frame and glass which would be the same as for a D1 although the book for the D" says you have to.
Just remember the angles of the regulator when removed and fit the new one the with the same, something I didn't do.

Thanks lads, the gear on the old reg broke clean off and was lying on the bottom of the door... just took a guess at where the motor and new reg meshed and bingo worked first time... managed to fit new one in without having to take out the glass too :) as some work instructions said i would have to... now next project is to fit new discs and pads back and front tomorrow
