Hi I have searched and searched but i can't find pics of someone fitting an autosparks chassis loom to a 1985 110 12j.
I have my new chassis loom attached at the bulkhead and run back to the lights..these are new as it didn't have chassis wiring or lights when i got it)
The loom is correct and although the engine is a 300tdi the rear of the truck is all 12j with the correct bullet connectors..the loom has various connections on one side that are large spade type, the haynes manual is confusing me , not difficult.
If anyone knows of a page where this has been documented that would be very helpful, as i am on the home run now and this bit is frustrating me!

maybe of some use to you, try googling 'expedition land rover, lucas wiring colour codes'
it has the wiring colours and what they do,
good luck

This is the forked end of the loom would appear to have a hell of a lot of connections for lights and fuel tank also is the left part of the fork just for the fuel tank and all others go to the right hand (as you look in photo) or is that for the passenger side rear lights and i have to find some bullet connectors as they are all male!
Its appreciated folks.

Thank you that does help.. i'm just not that far forward yet as i try to work out which bits of the loom end where!

What part are you confused with? From what I can see there, you have a large “bunch” of connectors. These are the drivers side light connections, they should also link over to the passenger side (both assuming you are using a RHD vehicle). It looks like a lot of connections as it’s both sides together.
The look should come up into the cab, then loop back down for the fog and reverse lights.

Edit:
The fuel tank wiring should be around 2-3’ down that loom, back towards the driver. It shouldn’t be at the rear, unless then new harness is different to the original.

Just confused generally really!
Ok so the big bunch has to supply right and left side (I need to add wires to get across) . The fork that comes off that is for fogs reverse? And the small back white that comes off the fork?
I guess I thought it would lay out and make sense but because there is no original wiring and more connections than I need it is testing me!

You shouldn’t need to add any wires to be honest. The original wiring would have came under the bulkhead to the drivers side main chassis rail. It would have gone into the rail and then all the way to the rear, where it exited again. Most of us who have done rebuilds tent to run the wire along the top of the drivers chassis rail. It’s easier for fault finding in later years.
Once at the right hand rear quarter, the large bunch of connectors needs threading up and into the cab, behind the mud flap on a 110 there should be a hole for the wiring. There should be another length of wire connected to that big bunch, going across to the passenger side, this is ran along the top of the rear crossmember, between the body and chassis. It also comes up into the body, through a hole behind the mud flap.

@farriermatt I have just looked through my rebuild photos, I don’t have one of the wiring in place during the rebuild, but I have one during the stripdown. In the photo you can see the large bunch in the right hand corner, hanging over the crossmember. This should go directly up and into the cab. The left hand should be the same, but opposite. The 2 pin connector you have shown randomly along the loom could be for the fuel sender, but I thought it was a 3 wire sender and gauge.

Thank you thats brilliant i have laid it out now like that, any idea what the two connector in the middle between the right bunch and the left is? Is the tank wiring in this loom or is that separate?
I take it the connectors being wrong is just bad luck when i purchased the lights. Again, i appreciate your help

Thank you just seen this reply..that really helps, cheers

Im not sure which connectors are wrong, but I would guess a 1985 era vehicle would have had Lucas bullets fitted as standard. My 1992 does. I prefer these over the more modern style connectors. When you need to add an additional feed on a circuit, it’s simply a case of swapping a 2 way for a 4 way, or a 4 way for a 6 way. It was really handy doing the trailer socket.

I’m not sure what the two pin connector is for, but it’s possibly for the fuel sender. Like I said, mine had a 3 wire sender, but I’m sure you could get 2 wire versions. It’s possible that’s what should be fitted to yours. The wiring from the sender to the gauge should be in that rear chassis loom, yes. I’m not sure what colours it should be, but @mystery should be able to help out with that.

If the connector on the light itself is different to the wiring loom, then I would chop the connector off the light and swap it out to a Lucas bullet connector. Others will disagree and say chop the bullets off the loom and change to the same type as the lights, but it’s up to you.

Now i get it, i have got some bullet connectors today i hadn't realised that two male ends connect in that manner and assumed i was missing the female part on one end or the other, the penny has dropped..many thanks
