hi can any one tell me when the barrells are glazed why do you have to hone them and how do you do this.
i will be pulling the engine out what parts should i replace while its out

thanks

If they are shiny and smooth they are glazed , it comes from the slight wear on the parts where the piston spends most of its time moving.

You need an electric drill and a degalzing tool , like a bottle cleaning brush from the kitchen with blobs on the ends.

If you cant afford one you can use a piece of steel bar with a slot cut in it and some foam wrapped round it and covered in some fine wet and dry paper.

Put it down each bore and run the drill, to make the cross hatching marks go on a slow speed but move the drill up and down fast.

It's proper name is a glazebuster, if you are going to do it, do it properly, don't use a bodge approach because if you get it wrong, new block time.

Even if you only ever use it once, its better to do it once properly than have to do it again and bodge it again. Buy it use it, sell it on eBay if you aren't going to use it again, ours has only been used about 5 times, either on motocross bikes or on lawnmowers (yes really), it has to be one of the most useful project tools ever.

cam bearing have the block top hat linered as a safety precaution valve steam seals have the heads skimed and crack tested new oil pump as well
