took mine off last year, & there was only one time I heard the thermostat kick in & that was when we towed our caravan , which is a quite big twin wheel one, to Dorset Steam Fair. Where we park is over the other end of the site up the hill, & when we parked up & idling to shunt the van etc. I could hear it. So I thought 'must put that back on' but hav,nt yet! But I will do before the start of the summer.

Cheers Dave and a Happy New Year to you too and everybod else for that matter:)

I am going to pick a 109 sw up tomorrow so we will see :) Unless I bottle too :D

To be mate I don't think I needed to put the fan back on for towing, but you know what it's like when you've got something that you really like, you don't want to muck it up !!

Have been running round with it off and all seems stable.

I have noticed a subtle improvement in smoothness, so maybe that's down to not having the fan turning. Incidently I've left the engine cover off, for easier accesibility, without any increase in engine noise.

If the weather permits I'll do the exhaust downpipe de-catt this arvo.

Am I haveing a "Blond moment" ?? cos I don't know what you are on about??

What thermostat? Kicking in?

Well, hang on ,I dont know either. It was the sound you get like an electric fan kicking in when its up to temp, only hav'nt got leccy fan! Someone who knows more about them than me could tell?

100 clicks (no viscus fan) with that on the back and the temp gauge did'nt flutter once above it's normal mark :)
