Hi guys do any of you kind hearted people know If I could disable my immobiliser on my 2001 discovery td5 with nanocom? If so has anybody got any pointers as how to do so?

Regards

If it's immobilised you can't do anything, if it's not immobilised and you want to disable the whole security system go nanocom in BCU -SETTINGS - ALARM-OTHER , set Alarm to Not fitted and Passive immobiliser to Disabled.... that's the only way to completely disable the immobiliser cos it works in conjunction with the alarm system so no immbiliser = no alarm on the D2 you cant retain the alarm and disable only the immobiliser, it's possible just for the passive immobiliser

Hi there I did this today what you mentioned did i only need to set alarm to not fitted and passive immobizer to disabled or change anything else? I only ask as I lock myself in the landy and it wouldn't start when locked the led was flashing still or have I missed something?

Hi @Discodevon ,

Did you write the settings to the car?

I tried exactly the same the other week on someone elses car for them and it did the same as you have found.

Having had another look, I think there may be a bit more to it and that you may have to change both the Alarm and the passive immobiliser / coil to not fitted and also Disabled.

Which makes 4 changes to do on the Alarm section on a nanocom.

But then I have never done it and checked to see if it worked 100%. As my alarm is working and i do not see the point in using my car as a test bed on something so critical.......LOL.

But do the above at your own peril.

Let us know if you try it.

Cheers

Hi there

It was very scary when doing this... I did it the first time then realised I had to write the settings in... I think you may be right but I'm a bit scared to go back into the settings again for now lol

In my case it's a farm landy that doesn't need and alarm or immobizer... Just wanting to make it so it won't fail on me...

Would what your mentioning be where I changed the settings earlier as I did see a few more options?

Thanks

They are in the same section.

iirc, it is ValeoBCU, Alarm, Settings, .........then scroll through the pages , have a look at each page. I think passive coil fitted is the last page. But not too sure, and it is too cold to go and sit in the car atm to check....LOL

BUT, as warned it is at your own peril, I have never done it so cannot confirm or approve these changes.

Cheers

Hi @Discodevon

Have you downloaded the manuals / downloads from the blackbox website. One of the BCU ones does include a description of what the different sections mean etc. and what the changes to the menus will do.

Cheers

@Discodevon

I have just been and played with mine.:oops::oops::oops:

I changed the following.

In ValeoBCU / Settings / Alarm.

Change:
Page 1
ALARM to NOT FITTED
ALARM OPTION to DISABLED.

Page 2
PASSIVE IMMOBILSER to DISABLED.

I found then that the car would lock / unlock using the fob.

But the red led on the dash did not flash and the car would start using a key.

I Also have the ALARM DISARM set to ALWAYS. As this was set this way before when I have the alarm on.

I cannot confirm the exact settings you need to make it work, as i have not tried all variations, but the above did work for me.

Again , try the above at your own risk.

If you do then let me know if it works for you.

Cheers

Strangely nanocom has more options for the same thing cos what i said (the two steps setting) worked well with hawkeye for me when i did it to a friend cos hawkeye is on the T4 protocol and maybe it makes two things on one command cos in the original BCU settings only the two options i said are available cos as long as the alarm is set to not fitted the alarm disarm setup is irrelevant

So SF,

Did you answer having done this with a nanocom? as your answer did make it look like you have? Especially as the OP did ask specifically about the nanocom.

Cheers

IIRC i did it few times with both hawkeye and nanocom too even though it was quite a while but as i have them both i might have confused things albeit as long as the alarm is set to not fitted any other alarm setting seems futile in the security protocol logic and it's an option only for nanocom...if i was wrong i apologise,

i'll play tomorrow with that myself just to make sure and i'll comd back with the result

no Worries SF,

Tomorrow I might go out and play to see what options allow what to be done. It does seem to have a certain level of complication that it should not need.....LOL.

Cheers

Thanks for your input guys and neilly I'll have a go with what you said that's what i need in regards to the red light not coming on... I read the manual there a setting called ((Bathrobe)) ideal for a cold climate : it allows you to start the car then lock the doors from the outside with spare key, Brilliant for warm ups!

Never the less this nanocom tool is brilliant but scary in a way lol!

Hi,

For the bathrobe, you need 2 keys I believe..............Plus in the UK it is technically illegal..................LOL.

Cheers

That bathrobe thing is useless IMO if the vehicle is not fitted with a fuel burning heater cos if it's really cold the engine will not warm up at idle whatsoever also the alarm/immobiliser are not active so if somebody opens the door by force he can just hop in and drive away without probs

Hi @sierrafery and @Discodevon

Update,

I went and tried your suggestion SF, changing the Alarm to NOT FITTED and the Passive immobiliser to DISABLED and found the red dash light still flashed Thus the car would not start.

It looks like Nanocom has a different way to the Hawkeyes way to disable the Alarm.

So it looks like changing the 3 items mentioned above is the way it works using a nanocom. Why it has to be different? who knows.

Have a Happy New Year.

Cheers
