Hi guys and gals.

N-reg Disco 1.
In a slight (big) quandary. I'm trying to source either a 2nd hand (good working) Disco 1 fuel injection pump (the immobiliser system that is built-in my landy has failed). Or a 2nd hand (good working) older mechanical fuel injection pump. Do any of you have this "very rare" item?
And if so, what's the going rate for one?

Or just get any old one and send it for recon at diesel bob.

You may find a way of repairing or bypassing the immobiliser.
Your "about" thing doesn't tell us more than N reg for your disco, we take it it is diesel but is it auto or not and is it 200 or 300tdi?
I'm guessing auto 300tdi.

Hi Stanley
Yup, it is indeed a 300tdi. Had it about 4 years. It's an Auto gearbox. Doh! sorry, should have provided more info. And, oh yeah, the VIN is SALLJGM73TA171205

Don't know where you are in dorset, I am in Ferndown and if you are close by could put you onto independents who are not expensive and are very good, they look after all three of my Discos.

Have you tried Douglass motors in wimborne?
Hi, I bought the Disco from Marcus at Douglass Motors originally. I was thinking of contacting him but haven't been back there for years. Can you believe it? I feel 'guilty' about contacting him, coz I use a different garage now to do work and MOTs and things, as my expertise is a bit limited

I live in Westbourne, what you say is do-able, so yes, that would be a wise choice. Thank you

Well it seemed sensible to me.
He will be able to repair and rebuild your pump no problem.

I wouldn't feel in the slightest guilty. From their website and so on I think they can do without your business!
They are more interested in sales of "stuff" and prepping cars for "overlanding" or other bling!
I do know the business as the wife and I have had dealings with the specialist VW garage next to it.

Pete Barrett from Stunning services will do a good job without charging the earth. He dosn't have big shiny premises and loads of staff.

If he is too busy I can put you onto another decent indy in Ferndown. Again a one man band who stands or falls by his work.

Ok! yeah, yeah, I know of the VW garage next to them, indeed I made an enquiry there once... long story.
I spoke to Karl this morning after reading your forum message. Good to catch up with them, wishing them happy crimbles and such. I used to go off-roading, but I had to halt my travels because my clients were very uncertain about the safety of the trips to North Africa after Arab Spring in 2010

Wow! THANK YOU! SO grateful! 🙏

Can I just go back to this and ask, do you know for a fact that the whole injector pump is bust, or is it just the immobiliser part, because chucking out an otherwise servicable pump don't seem right.
I know that on a manual the immobiliser is a solenoid operated valve on the pump, but I am aware that this may not be the case with the auto.
If you don't know I'd get it to a garage and let them advise you. Pete would never diddle you and make you buy bits you don't need.
Best of luck.

Douglass motors in wimborne will be able to diagnose the issue, repair the part that is the issue and offer a courtesy vehicle.
Good luck

Hi S, its currently at a garage (I don't have one) where it's secured until its fixed, when I've got some dosh, that is. Solenoid has been checked, it seems firm, i.e. no loose or wobbly bits or broken solder. I'm thinking maybe somehow bypass the immobiliser system? since this is where it has failed - the internal bits in the fuel injection have been examined

So have you have stolen the vehicle and it's immobilised, you have locked it in a garage and now you are trying to find a way to get the vehicle moving?

That’s rather a harsh accusation from a new member?

Reason for that thought?
