Disco TD5 auto box won't make its mind up

Hi guys
Had the previous gearbox problem solved with a new XY switch and a service, but it has now developed another problem. When accellerating hard or when its cold its like the gearbox won't make its mind up when it comes to changing gear, it changes up and down over and over very quickly until I ease off the throttle, any ideas what it could be? Have been told could be the ECU but wanna get a better idea before I start tearing her apart

Im no expert and its on here somewhere but they all do odd stuff untill there warm, and then when you get to about 55mph they finally decide to kick up into top, mine the same, just part of the character.

Sometimes that is caused by a small stuck valve in the valve block.

Let's say the box is ready to change UP a gear at 50 mph. So it does. Then your speed drops to 49 mph and it changes back down. Then up 1 to 50 again and it changes up again ... drive you crazy!

So there's a little doo-dah in the valve block to stop that. For instance, in the above case it might not chage down till your speed dropped to 45 mph, and back up again at 50, and you could live with that.

But it might be something else entirely.

But yes, the hysteresis valve doo-dah.
All automatics have one somewhere, somehow.
