Disco 3 handbrake fault

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows the most common cause of Disco 3 handbrake problems? My mate has a 2008 and has thought shes a bit down on power this week and then tonight the offside rear parkbrake jammed on. The electronic motor was continuously running even in the released position, after banging the drum several times it released but he now has the red parkbrake light flashing and the motor running continuously. I have'nt had chance to look at it yet but someone else fitted new discs and pads about 4 weeks ago. Over adjustment of shoes possibly? Any help much appreciated.

I would have said... If I had been asked.. **** it back to the main dealer.. its still under warrenty. Wish I had that option!!

It is a known problem by Land Rover on early D3's and there was a recall to carry out modifications so has that been done, if so then the brake mech requires servicing which I would put in the hands of a LR garage as it is involved.
