hi all
i've got a problem and didn't know where to post;)
sally's rear axle now resembles a sieve.after a rather traumatic trip to midlands involving getting stranded on the m1 in the dark:eek:, we got our replacement diff kindly delivered, but also discovered that the old one had run out of fluid via the axle hence why it packed up.....
we have safely returned home spraying everything behind us with fluid, and stopping and topping it up regularly. have looked on flea bay but can only find ones up north that wan £60+ for delivery, so was wondering if anyone knows of a way to repair it, or of any for sale closer to home?
Dean or FIL are going to call Andy at AL in the morning(i always get spoken to as tho i am retarded because i'm female), but they can be a it slow on providing bits, and as my daily driver, i kind of need to get it fitted asap.

thanks very muchly
sarah:D

I'll be honest the price of axles now days your probably better buying a used item from ebay complete and use the case. Its a bit hit and miss Disco axles tend to be quite badly rusted I think LR changed their spec of material around 1989/1990 with the intro of the Disco.

Somone on here must have one kicking about I woulda thought

i just thought I'd ask inas many places as i can in the hopes of finding one:)
it's just delivery costs of £60 on an axle at £160 is a lot, but with them not local to me i'm not going to be able to collect it or get a driver to do it on their way back to the office;)

have got it sorted found a pair of axles on ebay, unfortunately same seller is breaking 2 200s so have also been tempted by a gear box and transfer box and to keep husband happy am getting him a rear bumper too. :p
i bent his on a play day, but it was already see through in places, our local supplier has one but we've been waiting 4 weeks for him to go to his storage and get it, so i am bored of waiting.

£170 for the lot is good enough for me, and husband is arranging collection when one of his drivers is passing. so sally will be all fixed at the weekend. :D:D

well you see, babe, he was driving like a nutter wanting to break something..(not sure why, mentally deficient) and hadn't reallymanaged anything. gave me 10 mins, and i bent the bumper, and a rogue branch popped the sky light. --if you want something sone properly, even breking things, just ask a woman...lol
i'd never break/bend my own car like that tho....

Is it just the diff pan that's like a sieve? Look at this for future ref.

DA1044 REAR DIFF REPAIR PAN - WITH FILLER PLUG HOLE | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

hiya thanks for the suggestion, but no, its all around the filler bit, so even with one of these it's still need patching etc.
new to sally casing at least is definitely the way to go. husband is planning on sanding and grinding and repairing the one we take off, so he'll be happy to be playing with his welder anyway.;)

thanks for the replies.
i'm kicking my husband out of bed at 4.30 so he can get on the road and go get the bits from burton upon trent !lol
they'll be fitted next weekend, so am topping her up and using her gently til then....
thought i'd best come back an say thank you, as i don't want to cause offence (not without meaning to, anyway):D

at present she has a very elaborate bandage type thing involving screws, bodge tape, silicon sealant, shrink wrap and some tie wraps tohold it all in place....it's a work of art created by 4 men....:D
