Hi, just gone to check knocking noise and have found the right hand ball joint connecting to the steering box arm is moving about badly in the arm (lots of up and down and side to side movement between the 2 parts) . Obviously new drag link will be needed as it's the non replaceable side ball joint. My question is is there a Bush or anything that can wear in the steering arm where the ball joint seats into that will need replacing too. Need to find out before I go out and buy the bits and replace the drag link and fit only to find it still has lots of movement in the joint.
Many thanks for any help and advice.

no bush but if theres play there does nut just need tightening, its a taper fit so you might need to press or jack etc joint tightly home to get nut to tighten

My first thought but tried and nut and threaded part just spins. Probably just replace the drag link and damper, it's all new then so something I won't have to worry about failing at a later date, I've got new discs to fit at same time anyway.
Was just worried about stripping it all down only to find needed new steering arm or something.
Cheers for quick response.

apply pressure to the joint so its held tighter in the taper then do the nut

All tightened now. Took a jack underneath ball joint to put enough pressure to lift the car by about 6 inches to stop it spinning but got it tightened eventually.
Front discs were a breeze. No seized caliper bolts.
However did discover caliper piston gaiter torn and ACE ram gaiter perished so that's the next 2 jobs.
And still got an annoying rattle/knocking somewhere up front. ☹️
Thanks for all the advice guys.
