Disco 2 Disco 2 Immobilised EKA Code

@sierrafery can you advise ?
My disco has immobilized itself. I have read various posts on here and elsewhere regarding entering the EKA code, which I have carried out without success. It recognizes the BCU as it beeps when I turn the key to unlock for 5 secs. I go through the procedure but the LED light does not go out after the 5 minutes at the end. Any help and advice appreciated here before I have to source a replacement BCU. I have a Nanocom but not much experience using it.
Edit: I’ve just realised that it is only beeping once at the end of the EKA input process and it should be twice. Once means incorrect EKA. Twice means correct EKA. I have contacted LR to confirm I have the correct EKA.

It's under the valeo Body Control Unit screen on the nanocom if that's any help.

Thanks, but because it’s immobilised it won’t let the Nanocom access anything. I wish I had just disabled the alarm and immobiliser now before this

If someone changed the EKA before you with a Nanocom, it could be anything. Maybe try something obvious.

I’m only the 2nd owner. The first was an old guy who had it 7 years from new. I still keep in touch with him and I’m certain it wasn’t changed.

Hi, sorry to hear of the aggro your having. The EKA you have been inputting did it come from the vehicle via your Nanocom or from the original paperwork when the car was new ? As it might have been changed at some point. I have read the EKA on mine from my Foxwell because there's no record of it in the manuals that I got with it.
I dread this happening to mine so I might disable the immobilizer. Do you think it's due to water getting into the BCU somehow?
I wish I could help but I wouldn't know where to start as you know sierrafery is your man.

Thanks. The EKA is from the original paperwork supplied with the car. I’ve read about this happening to others and like you dreaded it. I’m kicking myself for not disabling it prior to this as I have had a Nanocom for a while now. I got it to solve problems and didn’t think to use it to avoid them

Like you I'm only the second owner of mine but unlike you I had no EKA with mine that's why I extracted it with my Foxwell 'just in case'. I just pray I'll never have any have to use it.

You do need to follow the procedure exactly as stated in the handbook, so maybe double check the book.

I’ve checked and checked again. I’m convinced I have the wrong code mate, but I’m waiting on Land Rover confirming mine. When I call them now I’m getting a message saying they are closed “due to unforeseen circumstances”

. The local stealer also can’t tell me the EKA as they tried putting my VIN number into their system and it’s too old. They would need to contact JLR as well. I’m going through a perfect storm here

Mate would you mind telling me how to extract the EKA code with a Foxwell, as i have a Foxwell and have never tested my EKA?
If you think security is an issue, would you mind pming me with it?

Very good shout Stan. I wish I had done this before this nightmare. I’ve found a guy on eBay that will refurbish my BCU and return plug and play with new EKA. It’s £194 though. If it gets my Disco back on the road I’ll gladly pay it, but I want to make sure I’m using the correct EKA though. It’s written on original security card along with a four number radio code and I’m wondering if the person who wrote the card out when it was new has got them the wrong way round .

I'm sure lots of us would love to know.
Have to say i never bother to enter the actual car onto the Foxwell, I just select "Landrover ". " Discovery" Diesel and the year. So I'm sure I'll need to enter the Vin or whatever to get it to tell me all this.

UPDATE: Its running

…...but the keyfob is still not working to unlock doors etc, so there is still something going on. I'm not having any luck speaking to @sierrafery on this, so can any other Nanocom guru's advise on how to proceed ?? @lynall do I remember you posted some stuff on this issue ?? Might have been @neilly. I'm throwing names in here guys in the hope of getting a permanent fix on this, so apologies if it isn't any of you

Edit; I should have said I got the EKA code from Historic team at LR. The code on the original security card provided when the vehicle was new was wrong, with the second and last digit wrong. Just shows you eh and must have been a numpty at the dealers writing it down incorrectly

Have you done an RF test on the receiver in the roof? If not do one. If you haven’t got facility to do that, id buy a known used replacement and swop it as a first attempt.

On nanocom its on the receivers menu, or similar. On hawkeye, pretend you are coding a key and it asks you to test the ‘plip’ (key), press your unlock button and if the RF signal isnt received it says ‘no plip detected’. Suspect a duff RF receiver in that case. Otherwise if it detects it, your receiver is fine. I guess its something then between that and the BCU. Firmly SF territory!

Hi. Sorry, i missed this thread... once remobilised you can disable the alarm untill you restore the fob's function as to not be forced to use the EKA all the time, with nanocom in Td5- VALEO BCU - Settings - Alarm/other set alarm to "not fitted" next "disabled", next "always" and in Utility run the RF test as mentioned before co maybe you are lucky to have just a faulty receiver, also you can save your own EKA code in Utility from small numbers to be easyer to insert ... at the end of all settings go back to menu and prompt on the bottom of page on "write settings"...if you dont have experience with nanocom go here https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/downloads to "Emulator" and play there to see all the functions

You have no idea how glad I am to hear from you and no apologies are required. I was actually starting to worry there was something up, as it’s unusual for you not to respond with help on these things.

I’ll have a go at the above, especially the Emulator, as I am basically rubbish with the Nanocom. Basic question. When using it, do I plug it in and turn ignition on, or not. Do I ever need to start the engine ?? Told you I was rubbish with it.
