Disco 2 axle stands

Hi, I'm doing the rear discs and pads tomorrow and I wondered where the best place is to put axle stands onder my TD5... any help appreciated..ta

Am i missing something ? I thought axle stands were for axles , i might just be being thick but thats where i would put them

In the same "area" as your trolley jack. I've only use stands when the vehicle is jacked up and i'm when laying underneath, never when along side removing wheels or fixing brakes.

lucky them you ever seen one fall of a jack when doing brakes?

i have a few times usually just bends mud shield ,i like a block of wood not keen on axle stands

chrisyleigh, i'll forgive your thickness... axle standa can be placed under the chassis, axles, all sorts of places. You dont jack the car up using the axles but put the jack under the suspension liks so it seemed a reasonable question to me.... after all you dont only use sledgehammers on sledges or cold chisels on cold things... heck people have even been known to use tap spanners on things that weren't taps

I'll only be doing one side at a time and all the wheels will be chocked.. just want it to be as safe as poss

Yup, safety FIRST it's what suits u sir, says one who has put up a triple extension ladder on top of an oil drum before now.

And yes correct I've never see a vehicle fall off a jack but a mate on mine did when underneath a his mini.

He had a very good funeral.

most times that is true but some have been hurt bad with a leg trapped or crushed, from the axle

yes you do; using a cold chisel as a hot chisel will feck the temper and it'll no longer be a cold chisel, just a soft useless lump
