for information rather than how to fix guide.
went to feed the moggies at me mothers, and met a mate coming down to ours with some beers. as he pulled up to the road junction, his motor swerved violently as tho he was trying to a handbrake turn. stopped to investigate, only to find the offside rear wheel fouling the rear of the wheel arch. lookin underneath we found the radious arm had parted company from the axle. (this is the second motor i have seen do this within two weeks)
temporarily ratchet strapped the axle to the chassis, wedging the radious arm between what was left of the bracket and the bottom of the coil spring. limped it home and drank the beer.
took it to the workshop next day to sort it out properly.
radious arm removed, with remains of bracket.
new bracket welded on and arm in place. bit messy as the underseal was still wet.
unfortunately forgot to photo unpainted bracket and cleaned up axle tube.
so, if you drive / own an older disco / 90 / 110 or anything that has the flimsy radious arm brackets, it may be worth checking the condition of them!
nrg
ps not sure how these pics will come out on here.........
sure someone will advise if they dont work!
