i hate t mobile....

simple jobs always seem to stump me..

trying to do front discs.. got the hub off and all easy peesy.. took me about 1/2 hour to get the first hub off so thought I might manage to match the book time for this job after all..

but that was at 6 oclock.. since then I have been hitting, plusgassing. droppig. throwing, blowtorching and hitting some more but still cannot get the disc off the hub.. any ideas???

by the way.. I might have put this job for longer than was good for me....

Stick the hub onto the wheel ye took off, use a breaker bar and socket to remove the bolts on disc then all should be well;)

well I'm off to newport in the morning so decided to get the train and worry about the car when I get back.. is diesel going to be better than petrol the? I usually use petrol to clean the parts and was going to do the beearings so no harm in giving it a go.. and I guess derv is just as good for cleaning..

i'll use petrol then cos it's cheaper anyway and gonna take a good few litres to cover the hub..

now just checking, I thought the reason the hub bonds to the disc is because of the heat and it's like a weak weld.. or in this case not so weak.. so then will degreasing acieve anything? other than make the bearings all nice and shiny and the inner seal easier to get out..

when i did the rears i soaked and scrubbed the bearings in petrol then packed with grease .. was gonna do the same for the fronts.. and then copper grease between hub and disc and on all the other mating surfaces..

hmm.. penetrating properties of derv and petrol.. compare.... no idea..if it's rust then the oilier texture of derv would probably help.. or not I dunno.. whatever lol.. probably will use petrol to save having to buy another jerry can..

Derv will be better in cleaning, without corrosion. It will act as a penetrating oil, with more lubrication.

fairy snuff.. derv it is then.. does derv do you the same favour as petrol when you're finished with it and just evaporate away so you don't have to worry about disposing of it in an environmentally friendly way?
