Hi. I came by a used dimsport rapid tuning box recently. Would anyone know how it fits? Their website doesn't shot and they are slow to reapond to email. The box has a plug & socket to interrupt the fip one. Also has small tube and a 2pin plug to go where? Hoping to fit to a friend's thirsty 2001 auto dt .

If it has a vacuum tube, I think it will be for pre EGR, oh and it will make your friends thirsty 2001 dt even more thirsty even if it is compatible with the EGR EDC.

+1 - Argued many times on here so I hope this won't be a catalyst for another multipage arguement....the only way to increase output on a Diesel is to increase fueling...!!

Other things that will help is colder denser air, which will require more fuel to burn efficently...

Everything is a balancing act - increase one thing, another has to increase to compensate - as Wammers always says, can't get 'owt for nowt...(or something like that - I am a Southerner and don't understand anything north of the Thames!:D:D:D)

A particularly accurate quote if i may say so old chap. The first company to come up with a box of tricks that increases BHP by 50, gives 100 lb ft more torque and actually, not just a may do, or could do, but a genuine does increase MPG to any significance. Will make a bloody fortune. The problem rates along the same lines as building a perpetual motion machine. :D:D:D

Update
I got this box figured out and working. The 2wire cable is for optional on/off switch on dash. I have it fitted to my 98 manual motor and have seen mpg go from 22 to 26 on a test journey of 20miles pulling 2tonne trailer as I usually do. It drives noticably smoother also. I am very pleased because I had previously fitted a racing-electronics tuning box without any obvious improvement. Eventhough said box was recommended by 2 users who noticed improvement in their auto p38s

the one thing a powerbox will do to an auto is give a sharper gear change and a much better ride, but i have been told that u would want to be ordering a new gearbox when chip or fit a power unit.

Unbelievable update.
MPG has remarkably improved. As reported earlier it went from 22 to 26 towing 2t with 350kg of tools and supplies in the back. At the weekend I unloaded it all to fit in 4 bikes and travel to the extreme west for a weeks hols. I reset the mpg and it went to 42mpg which I presumed as a highpoint. However over the next 20miles it climbed to 48mpg!! At journies end of about 100 miles of twisty uneven road I am at 39mpg. I did reset it after the first 30miles to eliminate an electronic blip.I did some short runs today and am still at the 39mpg. For the last 6months while loaded for work it has lived between 15 and 28mpg. Fitting the tuning box is the only major change I have done to effect it. The mpg is supported by the fuel guage only moving a small amount. A pleasant surprise.:D

The only thing you can glean from this is that your fuel gauge and trip computer are broken. Land rover will want your car back for investigation, or is it running off holy water? :D:D

Yes, maybe I filled up with some miraculous potion. That makes as much sense as whats happening. I will report back in due course when the bubble bursts.

As was said earlier the only way to increase power and torque is to increase fuel. I think your little bit of Italian electrics is also intercepting the fuel quantity feedback from the pump to the ECU and sort of substituting it's own version of events rather than those which are actual. Unless the 100 mile twisty road was down hill all the way.

Most accurate test is brim to brim. Ignore what the dash tells you, it might as well say "LIFE'S A LOTTERY! BE LUCKY!"

Trust me on this though, there is no way, what so ever you are getting 40, hell, getting low to mid 30s would be a miracle. Most likely reason for the "increase" in MPG is the tuning box increases fuel without letting the BeCM know about it, tricking it into thinking you're being a lot more frugal than you really are.

I have a 2000 2.5 dse auto in standard trim and travel 80 miles a day, 60 miles on the motorway and 20 miles on a twisty A road, my journey is not on the flat and has some relatively steep climbs.
According to the trip computer i get an average of 36.3 mpg on the motorway at 65mph and 25.1 mpg on the A road at between 30 and 50 mph and the average over the whole 80 miles is 32.6 mpg.
Of course a lot depends on how heavy your foot is but i was pleased with this mpg so I thought i would do the brim to brim test to validate.
Over 256 miles i calculated an average of 33.5 mpg.

I dont know how this compares to others but considering my last car was a 2006 Peugeot 607 2.0ltr hdi manual and averaged 38mpg i'm pleasantly supprised by my RR.

When you consider that Land Rover claim. Urban 22.2 MPG Manual, 20.3 MPG Auto. Extra Urban. 31.9 MPG Manual, 30.7 MPG Auto. Combined 27.5 MPG Manual, 25.8 MPG Auto. You have an exceptional car treasure it.

Or maybe just a very light foot! i keep below 3000rpm and try to drive as effieciently as possible, looking ahead and regulating my speed to avoid unneccassary braking or acceleration and luckily have a clear run at 6.30 in the morning and 4pm.
I dont for one minute think i would get anywhere near 33mpg if i was in the rat run or the fast lane!
