Hi guys n gals, having probs with my diff lock. It is not the usual problem where the lever seizes in the housing - I;ve already sorted that:), and had it working.

But now have a problem whereby I cant get the lever to engage diff lock. I have tried from under the car, and it engages and the light comes on, just cant get the lever to do it from inside the car.

Any ideas, before I strip out the console again...

Its a 98 300tdi. Ta.

linkage needs to be tight in nlyon bushes and bolt at top ,pivot eyebolt needs setting correctly to get equal travel in/out

not easily but pivot has two nylon bushes and clip securing lever would need removing and either top or bottom end undoing to release lever theres a 13mm spanner sized locknut on pivot slacken an adjust pivot will take trail and error to achieve good selection,id try winding out a bit first

So am I right in thinking from underneath, I need to loosen the 13mm bolt, move the lever further around then tighten the bolt back up????? Thus giving me more movement on the lever thus hopefully engagin/disengagin the diff lock?

no , the rod that comes down from lever at top to transfer box has pivot screwed into gear box this needs adjusting but to do this either the top or bottom needs to be undone to allow the rod to be removed from pivot where it is secured with nlyon bushes and clip
