Right. so yet another question...

Just having a play around in the yard, and was testing everything and messing..
And came to the dif lock... put it on and no light came on, but it did go in, could feel it as i moved off slightly..
tried it a couple more times and it got increasingly difficult to get it into dif lock..
Took it out of dif lock and reversed quite slowly, with near full lock on the wheels, and there was a right BANG, (is that cause i was on near full lock?) or sommet else?
I also have a feeling that everything doesnt seem too right with the diff, its just abit too stiff and takes a hell a lot of Banging and shoving to get it in. also i still maintain the the Whirring and vibrating from earlier posts is to do with the dif.

anyone have any ideas of what i should check here, or any solutions or diagnosis???

it will bang with worn axle components in full lock with diff lock on ,ligth is operated by switch near were linkage for diff enters t/box ,switches are poor even when new and wiring to them live in other to earth, switch needs to be wound in enough to work but not too much or it will jam diff lock selector fork , if something like cv was broken in axle you wouldnt have drive when out off diff lock ,feel free play in axle and diff by jacking wheel up in turn

you can feel wear in crown wheel and pinion diff gears ,half shafts ,cvs etc by turning by hand diff flange and wheels ,if it drives out of diff lock axle isnt broken but could well be worn

Whats the Wheel crown and Pinions, sorry im still new to all this, trying to build the knowledge..

Going to change oils on axles, transfer box and gearbox tomorrow, so be good opportunity to check for metal shards, broken teeth etc in oils..
