I know some land rovers have a flap that closes if they detect petrol being put into the diesel tank, maybe this is what yours has and it has been triggered ?
Iirc there is an unlock tool in the toolkit, ie with the jack/locking wheel nut etc.

Ano this week iv fixed a loss of power due to a fuel filter which was £30 when the garage was trying to charge me £1500 for a new turbo and now the fuel tank problem. This forum has been a life saver and a money saver :D Thanks guys

i think the previous owner mist have put the wring fuel in hence why the flap was closed and me need a new fuel filter

We used to have the same, some of the older diesel pump nozzles would trip the flap, newer pumps are fine. Probably not many left now in the UK though.
But yes could be somebody put a petrol nozzle in.
