Diesel Leak from Timing Case

Done that Mate finally got the Bad!!!ard on but it needs pushing back . Still very tight to get back

Managed to get it pushed Back by hand gonna do the tensioner now then, check it's still all lined up. Should I rotate 2 full turns too.

Think I've got the tension right, ain't got one of them beam torque things but just done it by feel really, should I torque the tension bolt up properly now, think it's 45 nm

Rotated twice Timing Bang on. Gonna give it a go to see how Pump goes this time. Now can I start it like this in pic. Or should I fit big wheel back on ??

Well Timed it back up Bang On now with proper Kit. After all that still the same I have attached Vid, Think it has to be the Pump now. So whats my best plan now ? should I leave Pump in Situ and put the Gauge on there or will I have to take pump back off to take the front pulley off it ??

Thanks cant get Vid on for some reason but just the same as other one. So if Timing is out which probably is, is it just a matter of setting it back to 154 or whatever it is then all should be back to normal.
Could have bought another bloody second hand Pump with the money Ive spent on Special Tools

Bit of an Update, Fixed Or Not.
Right after trying everything mentioned twice or 3 times, no change so left it for my Gauge thingy coming.
Britania Mike mentioned loosening the 3 bolts on front of pump take pin out and and try moving either way to see if it made a difference. I thought he meant as mentioned before to get pin In right so thought well Ive done that so not worth trying again. Anyway remembered an old Mate who used to faff about with them and he said the same thing ,
So gave it a go. Moved it to the Right a little as far as it would go, only a few mil or so , Tightened bolts back up turned the Key and the Bast!!!d started straight up no smoke. Now Question is now Although Flywheel Pin and Marks line up, the Pump Pin does not fit. Do I leave it as it is, or do I Need to make Pin fit as well. ??

youve confirmed the pump pulley boss with slot in it is fitted incorrectly
you can run as is but since you have the kit coming why not set it right with pump in situ

Use the Dial indicator to set correctly, only thing might be i you do not have enough clearance on the 3 small bolt holes. You can only try.

But from my POV, to save future hassle , I would pull the pump and reset the pump so that the fuel pump pin lines up the pulley and the pump body.

Take a photo of how much it is out of line as reference. Mark it with a paint pen and then use the dial indicator to set correctly. It may take a few goes , but at least it will be riight.
You would need a decent puller to remove the pump pulley. Leave the nut on the end as you use the pulley.

If you do that, and can get 1.54mm lift in the given bolt slots, then try and find a suitable drill that you can use instead of timing pin for the FIP. Make a note of it for future reference.

Will Do Mate . Thanks,. Will follow the Trailer Fitters vid as it shows how to do it in Situ. If really needs I have the kit to pull pump off without having to take Timing cover or belt off.

Did you ever confirm wiht the diesel specco who fitted the new seal how he timed the pulley?

You say he cannot bench test it, but did he use a dial guage as I questioned in post 100?

All he said was that he locked it when taking pulley off to fit seal,
When I mentioned Dial Gauge he said that he could only do that with Pump fixed in Engine,
Heard a few complaints about him since this, so wont be going back.

Gonna have a go with the Dial later.
Right so before I start should I put it back to where it was when it came back from Diesel Guy, ie Heavy Smoking and hard to start , then check first from there.?
Or leave it where it is now after altering it to Run Properly ?
I am doing this in Situ.
