The secret ingredients usually consist of several types of chemical used as paint or lacquer thinners and Acetone suspended in a thin oil. You may notice a difference if you put a couple of tubs in a low tank, but in a full tank it will be less noticeable.

fill you fuel filter up with kerosene a few times and run that threw a few times that will clean them up

It may also assist in knackering the pump internals.

Quite quickly I would guess.
If you can't find any injector cleaner I can get you some snake oil which will sort them out, itsgood stuff as it cures all ills, makes hair regrow and gets the pecker working in 95 year old bloke's

Is it from the same maker as the stuff you put in your radiator that reassembles broken water pump impellers and lines the hoses with leak proof membrane?

Never had a problem my self but I do run it on 100% svo most of the time its a different make 4x4 but like all of the era Bosch pump and injectors

If your injectors are abit crappy why not remove and clean? Or better yet have them serviced?

A few litres of clean veg. oil in with the fuel will clean everything up. Another one is to add low ash 2-stroke oil to each tankful. Improves running and cleans bits.

Never used this on petrol, only diesel, but..
My engine was feeling a bit knackered, and it turned out 2 injectors were working good, one was a bit off, and one not at all. The dud was removed and sent away. Cleaned up it worked nicely. The poor one would not come out at all.
I used some injector cleaner, which definitely improved things for a while, then went downhill again. More cleaner, and after some miles I started getting noise and smoke from under the bonnet - the injector had come loose and broken the retainer. Crept home, got it cleaned and sorted, and the engine has been great since.
I now put cleaner in once a year as a precaution.

svo wont clean anything think you are confusing svo and bio if you run bio it will clean a lot of crap from your fuel system and clog your filter. it will not clean injectors
I'm currently in the process of replacing my injection pump (M51), after engine failure (thread)
Assuming that this fixes it, I think my pump failure could have been caused/contributed to by fuel additives, I've run two lots of injection cleaner in the past couple of thousand miles and also some wynns diesel treatment to see if it helped with the smoking. Theory being that any small build ups of crud/sediment could have been holding it together. The top seals started leaking after the first treatment.
There's been no smoke but that's because the car has been sat on the drive for 2 months. I measure my MPG with a phone app (accurately) and it's never got better with fuel additive (during or after).

Diesel fuel additives will not mess up a injector pump. Bad fuel, water in fuel and not changing fuel filters, or adding veggie oil as a fuel or waste oil could cause issue
