Hello Guys and Gals

I got a td5 D2 in which I have recently changed the Injector harness on, cleaned ecu plug out etc and after 2 weeks of happy usage it has now died on me and will only crank and not start.

I have checked the basics but now come to a halt.

I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment and cant splash out on a nanocom. Is there anyone local or near thetford that can help me with diagnostics equipment??

I am happy to pay you in cake/coffee/tea/beer or all the above !

Thanks

Jack

Hello,

Is the battery fully charged? if in any doubt take it off and get it charged up then try again. They do not like strting if the voltage gets below 10v / 10.5V ish when cranking.

Is that the one on NS on the bulkhead? Like a push button?

How is it reset if so?

Jack

So I managed to get hold of a dealer level diagnostics machine. . .

I can read ABS and airbag ecu but not the Engine ecu.

Can someone put me out my misery and tell me the engine ecu is Kuput.

:(

So a bit of a breakthrough?

Mike (Juke179r) popped over and helped me massively with his nanocom, which connected straight away.

Only codes I got were to do with the air flow circuit, which is annoying and amazing at the same time.

I have ran over some more checks on fuses and relays and all seems okay.

I have re-cleaned my fuel filter, purged it ten times and still no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Again a massive thank you to Mike, top bloke and it's people like him that make the LR community so good!

Cheers

Have you checked the fuel flow? pump running?

I have had simialr and it was the HP side of the pump was not providing enough fuel to the engine , pull the pipe at ethe FPR and see what the flow is over 15 secs or so.

Also ,iiirc you can do this on the nanocom. did he check to see if the RPM was showing on the nanocom when cranking?

Cheers

I have a fuel flow to the filter but not checked it at the FPR.

Getting a speed input from the CPS which is good.

I'm limited at home on my drive I need to try and tow it to work to use the workshop!

Pull the pipe at the FPR and see how much fuel you get out when the pump is running.

My Fathers would not start and it was the HP side of the pump , output from the tank pipe to the FPR was only the same as the LP side of the pump .Put my pump in it and it started straight away.

Glad to help you mate. I apologize that I don’t know much about TD5 engines. If it were a Detroit Diesel engine, I would have had you up and running in no time. Lol

I’m still curious to see how you get on with your troubles. I’m sure with the help from forum members you’ll sort out the problem.
Hit me up if you need the Nanocom again.
