I need to get extra lift on my Discovery, every time I go out with my chums in their Defenders I bottom out (they have sooo much more clearance), but (as we all know) the car is costing me a fortune in many other ways, thus I'm after an affordable way of getting the height.
Is it possible to put Defender 130inch or 110inch Springs and Shocks instead of Discovery standard Suspension?
I guess it is but the car probably becomes unstable - can anyone let me know of problems and risks?

Thanks
Tom

a 2 inch lift is ok without any major mods or expense.
after that you need to change loads of items and spend lots of dosh.

Very good point about the 2 inch lift, I have heard about this.

I suppose my next question is - does anyone know how much a Defender 110inch spring and shocks kit would be lifting a Discovery TDI200 from it's standard suspension height (I know what more could I want???):D

ive got 2" spacers on my 90. they are easy to fit (The 1st thing i ever did mechanically on a car!) and they are cheap (mine were £60).

Coil Spring Lifters

go and see Rich at Mill Services, cheap and the price costs inc postage. think they will fit disco's but email him to make sure. stay clear of CNC ones on ebay (£110) cos they dont have the drilled hole/hollow inners on the front spacers to accomedate the shocks. so you get some premature wear on these parts (apparently).

alternatively, you can upgrade the whole lot (springs, shocks etc) kits cost around £200-£250 for deependers. cant be much more for disco's. if your shocks are Fuked anyway and your springs sagging it might be a cheaper, allround better idea.

forgot i had pics, here are the fitted spacers to my 90. not sure what the setup looks like on discos, they may not even fit later discos... get hold of rich and ask.

110 / 130 springs won't fit a Disco as the spring diameter is too large, you can fit 90 or RR springs no problem and that gives you a large selection dead cheap from Padocks or Craddocks.

are you sure of that?
i always thought the 110 ones were the same width, but longer/stiffer?

Absolutely certain, 110 rears are 170 OD whereas Disco, 90 and RR are 150 same as front ones.
Reason is I bought a kit for my 110 thinking they were all the same only finding the backs wouldn't fit, so have had to buy two rear springs separately, the winner is my daughter who now has a lifted RR for nowt.
