Hi, Please could I inform you of our beloved Land Rover that was stolen in Holmfirth on Thursday 4th October. This is not the first time, as she was stolen 3 months ago. On that occasion the culprit was caught by a diligent police officer that was a landrover nut when he noticed a headlamp hanging off 40 minutes after she was stolen. Unfortunately that thief was bailed, caught again committing another crime and then was bailed again, who knows eh?

After our first 'lesson' poor Luna was secured up to the hilt, with all security bolts external, a recommended steering lock, padlocks on PCU unit and an extra alarm fitted on top of factory alarm. She was under our bedroom window, which was fully open...oh and we have two dogs. All damage to her first assault was fixed after we paid for her release and return with no help financially from our insurance company.

These guys knew what they were doing.

We are heart broken, we even had our wedding cake made as a replica. I am in the process at the moment of convincing my husband to get another and not let them win. Any help (as we are not expecting to see her again this time) in future security measures would be very helpful, if not then anyone in the Holmfirth district, please be vigilant as they out and about and probably casing your loved 4x4 now.

Sorry to hear this.. :( and :welcome: to LZ however it would of been nicer if you had joined for a better reason. There is a thread on here about security measures, which is hopefully helpin as to what is workin and what isnt. :(

Also post this on Landywatch... :D

Thank you Minty. Yes Ive just had a scoot around and some of the suggestions on another forum has been interesting and made me chuckle in places.

Your bookmarked now so I will be visiting a bit more (saves me going numb on FB)

:)

Sorry to read of this. It sounds like you did pretty much all you could. I can see a Disklok fitted in your photograph and it sounds as though you went to considerable lengths securitywise.

It appears that some of these bastards are very difficult to stop and if they keep getting bloody well bailed every damned time, then there would appear to also be very little reason for them to stop. Personally, I believe that after the third conviction for anything other than the most summary offence, the accused should disappear completely from our streets for 20 years.
:violent:

I hope you see her again Rachel. Defo post on Landywatch.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Can you remember where the location of the second alarm was in the engine bay and did it have a back up battery? Was your steering wheel turned on full lock and the disclok fitted when it was stolen?

The back up alarm had a separate power supply and the steering was locked and secured with disklok the only thing left this time was 4 plastic hole covers and a very small sliver of paint. Last time we had lots more, what was left I dont think would be good to put on an open forum, but im guessing everyone knows how they got in the first time (wish we had done some homework before)

We must have been in a deep deep sleep for her to be snatched this time! And I think they have spent quite a few days passing and looking to see what they were up against.

Also we have had the lovely news from our insurance company that we will have to pay our excess and lose two years no claim.. that is.. once the insurance man rings us tomorrow to investigate. So we will end up feeling like the criminals again no doubt.

At least I think Ive talked him into another, just, as the police turned up this aft in a brand new landrover to 'follow up'. salt? wound? :decision:

Anyway, thanks for your replys and I hope the forum saves at least one person from having their 'baby' stolen :)
