I have had my Defender for 2 1/2 years now and have gone from no mechanical knowledge to quite proficient - I've broken down a lot, and have no money - but recently had a brake issue (broken vacuum pump), and had to be recovered to a garage in London (Stratstones). They charged me £447 for new pump and fitting, and then listed about £2,000 more work that I should have done!
Does anyone have a garage that just fix and service, don't try to rebuild, and don't charge the cost of a new one, who are remotely close to Central London?
Any advice greatly recieved.
