Defender nut and bolt rebuild

Phew thank goodness that I didn’t end up throwing the deivers one away as the tilt mechanism was broken, but nothing a big hammer and mig welder couldn’t sort.
I’m shocked with the prices of certain landy items, some expensive and otheres cheaper than thought. For example roof liners expensive, windscreens dirt cheap 🤷‍♂️
Britpart just released a new roof liner also which is like £600

Today’s tinkering consisted of fitting the rear roof liner. Looking ok few creases in the vinyl around the alpine window cut outs but all in all I’m pleased. Landy then jacked up on axle stands ready for when the new boots arrive on Tuesday. Will take them to work to fit on the rims and balance on Wednesday.
Loving the progress you've made with this def!

Boots are on !

I appreciate your comments I had thought of gloss black but to keep it as per original I sprayed them. NAS bar fitted this evening which took some fetteling but well pleased with how it looks. Next on the purchase list is swing away spare wheel carrier, stainless steel black front bumper with end caps and some mud flaps and thats about her done… then onto the next one !

I’m thinking on some decals on the side, not the original county ones but something like this ? What’s the consensus ? I personally thinking of going for the right defender in white one

Does need some work though…. New chassis, new bulkhead and some T cut…..

Did you manage to find the chassis plate?
And are you sure it’s not a 107”
There are a few members on here with them.
Chassis & bulkheads have a long wait for these.

And good luck

Its a 1959 109, found the VIN plate and have the original old style log book, cant believe how good a condition some bits are, door frames galvanised looking as new, bonnet and roof ad new, rear tail gate as new, rear tub better than my S3 will fix up, front left wing as new, rhs wing needs some attention but fixable, windscreen and surround good, seat tub fixable, clocks and dash panel ok, engine and box there and matching numbers, axles are repairable I recon, wheels think are usable, steering wheel and colum there but need refurb, all in all not as bad as I first thought ….. jesus I gotta take these roae tinted shades off it’s starting to get dark in here
