Just got a decat defender pipe for the disco . Im hoping it will help the revs pick up a bit quicker and get the disco moving at low revs.
Do I need to fit a gasket at the manifold end ? There was nothing that came with the pipe.

You will be something, manufactured gasket or exhaust sealing paste
Anyone know the part no for the gasket?
I read a few posts about fitting the pipe. One said it took about twenty mins and biglad said it took about five hours! Knowing my luck it will be the latter!

The first time I did it and was working out the method it took a long time (don't really think it was that long) but having done a few now I would say that 45mins start to finish was about right.

It makes a difference whether the car is manual or autobox. The autobox are a little more difficult requiring more stuff to be moved.

The important thing is to create working room and you do that by raising the front end of the chassis (not axle) so it creates more space between the engine block and the axle.

Undo the three pipe to turbo nuts from underneath using long extensions on your sockets.

Good luck

As Dave says just jack up the chassis to get the biggest gap possible. Mine is an Auto and I had no issues once it was jacked up. Might be worth checking the 2 bolts that join the downpipe to the middle box before you start as mine needed to be cut off so I'd have needed a new middle box if I wasn't fitting a straight though middle pipe at the same time.

Fitting the new part should take ten minutes You need 3 long extensions and a 15mm socket for the manifold bolts and a 13mm for the centre join bolts
The manifold ones need a few blasts with wd40 or simillar before you do it
