Hi Folks.
Let's start off with the admission of guilt...... I'm a fool for leaving an interior light on.
Result = dead battery, Immobilised Message and a need to enter EKA code.
Problem is that car doesn't respond at all. No beeps, flashes, acknowledgments or anything on key left or right.
Tried all combinations (both fobs) 4 anti-clocks to start sequence the code in correct order clock, anti-clock, clock, anti-clock and finally unlok!....but nope, still dead. No drivers-door Central locking responses.... nothing.

Tried the key-fob lock/unlock buttons held while lock/unlock in dooor etc.

Tried removing battery -ve overnight and putting key in ingnition at position 2 and reconnecting (doors all lock) but no resynch of fob.

Called the local specialist to be told "EKA is the only way in mate there is no diagnostic back-door".

Having trawled this forum and tried just about every combination I can think of I am at my wits end.
Can the drivers door-lock switches be nadgered?
Can I break into the outstation wiring connector and fool it that door is still shut and bypass the real switches and provide my own short's to emulate the real-thing?

Alternative is have the thing dragged off my drive onto a low-loader and taken away to be fettled via mucho-dinero disappearo from my wallet.

Thank goodness the 21 Y.O. Defender90 is still running!!

I love the Rangie, but it's a freaking nightmare when it goes tits-up :mad::mad:

All help much appreciated.

Hi there "J" yup the door opens mechanically just fine (so was not superlocked :) ) always sets the alarm off so the door sensor is working ok.

I've never played with the wiring before (or taken a door-panel off either) and have limited tools at my disposal but as an ex IBM engineer understand electro mechanical things pretty well (if I have a wiring diag and loom colour codes).

It is the lack of feedback responses from the car on the key-turns that bothers me.

Any clues?

Regards,

Dan.

it could just be bit of muck in meck, no neen for wirering just give lock good cleaning and put vasalean on look, then put your eka in by hand

As your car is a 99my it should be a late enough car to enable the EKA to be inputted by Testbook. However longterm its better to be able to use the key in the door method.(I think its BECM's with Pam micro 36 or higher that can have the EKA put in with Testbook - its written on top of the BECM.)

if you have unlocked with key the alarm should not go off!!!

strip the mech out, coonect to plug and try it.if it doest operate strip it down, all the little screws out, fiddly around with it, grease it and re assemble. should then work!!!

the eka is not going in for a reason, slam all doors boot and bonnet. set all windows. 4 turns and then code!

Thanks to all respondents.
Dead Rangie is now a "live Rangie".
It was the door-unit assembly not shorting on the key-turns.
I found a very good article with full pics and instructions of exactly what to do and where to shove yer test-leads.
Got it all working while out of the door and plugged into the wiring loom.
Really NOT looking forward to trying to put it all back together.... may wimp out and let the local "guy" do it. At least I am not locked out of my own car now and it starts and recognises the key-fob.

Well, I "bailed" on the refit ofthe lock etc.
My time is worth more than the garage will charge me and it needs a service and an MOT anyway.
If anyone wants the docs on the fix process and the pictures I can post it.
Regards to all.
