Intro first ...

then try the vehicle with the ignition on ...

and tell us what happens ... clicks and lights - all of it :D

Hey sorry it's n reg 300 tdi the instrument panel is not working no lights on it or anything, Chris

That's not correct.

It's an electronic gauge receiving the information via a transducer fitted on the transfer box.

Not on my 300tdi - or at least it certainly has a square drive cable that runs to the back of the speedo

On a small number of cars there was a mechanical speedo and an electronic speed transducer, typically these were early 14CUx EFi V8 RRC ...

The drive gear the speedo cable fits into is exactly the same part regardless of if the speedo is mechanical or electronic, for example the Blue 20tooth gear for a 90 or 110 fitted with 7.50,235 or 255 tyres is LR part FRC3310...

that's why you can swop boxes and if needed change the handbrake assy anorl ...

From VIN MA 081992 a transducer was fitted directly to the T box that would be 1995MY 300 series, petrol or diesel engine.

Before that a short drive cable was fitted to the T box and with an in-line transduces fitted, and before that (JA VIN) a drive cable was fitted similar to the RRC.

So having a 300 series with a mechanical drive :( to late now to take it back :D

There is a fuse in the fusebox for the dash gauges, can't remember which one, but from memory it has a picture of what looks like a speedo on it.
