Well, failed MOT:mad:

Failed on three out of four ARB joints. They were completely shot to be fair.

What a complete B*stard to get off and only managed the rears so far. Lashings of plus gas but still needed all my stength on a breaker bar and tiny fractions of turns all the way. Ended up hacking one of the nuts off in the end.

I'm not looking forward to the front ones, they look a lot more difficult to get a breaker bar onto. Any tips:confused:

Took mine off three years ago now as the MOT man gave me an advisory.
Was going to clean, paint, and fit new joints, but never got round to it because it was such a bar steward to get them off.
Cant say I've noticed the difference with them off and its gone through two MOTs and 25k miles with out them fitted.
If anyone wants front and rear ARBs for a TD5 90 Defender PM me.
My advice is bin the whole set up.
None of my previous Defenders have had them fitted so its not like I'm doing anything I should not be.

Update:

New rear joints fitted. Piece of cake, took all of ten minutes.

However, point to note, the lower bolts were destroyed on removal of the old joints, so order these as well! The ones I got did not include new nuts! (Cheers Rimmer). Also, 3 of the 4 flippin joints I bought did not include the rubber bushes in the lower link, so in mid flow, had to re-use the old ones! (Cheers Frogs Island 4x4!!).

Anywhoo, went to attack the front ARB tonight and spotted a crushed bracket on the nearside (see pic). Bugger. Took the ARB off.

Now we will see if it will get through a re-test without the ARB, point being it was there at the first MOT and not sure if the "If it aint there they cant test it", will work in this case??????????
