Hi all ,we have a 1999 Disco 2 7 seater with air bags on the rear .but the rear tires are wearing very badly on the inside . i cant find anything wrong with it ,the wheel bearings have no play on them and everything else looks good the bolts are tight, bushings good . i just cant find the problem

any ideas ?? i will try to get some pics of the tires

This came up a little while ago.

I think the answer was four wheel alignment to find out where the car is misaligned.

That's your first port of call I think.

wrong pressure.
ive been adjusting to make sure its not that
is that inside edge or center of tyre
its the inner most edge of the tire

You have a suspension problem. the wheel is tilted in at the top allowing the tyre to ride on the bottom edge.

No this could be lots of things to cause this

loose wheel bearing
lift kit
worn suspension bushes

This is what come to mind for know. if you can check these your self and can't find a cause then get into a shop.

the thing is both wheels are cutting, and we fix landys so im sure we can fix it .i just cant find the fault .

i suspect the axel itself may be bent but i dont want to jump to such an extreme cause .

hve the wheels recently been tken off the front xle nd swped with the rers?

could be the fronts which scrub insted???
no that is what i thought at first but the fronts are fine and the rears have gotten quite smooth onthe inside now
is the watts link ok ...?....i know it on paper wont make the tyres wear but worth a peek ...
i didnt think so either but i will look again

here are the pics of the left rear not too clear but the inner most tread is smooth and the rest are like new

update : i thought the wheel bearings were bad after all my checking, so we had another rear axel and thought it would be easier and less messy to swap the axels complete . after dropping the old axle it looks a little bent ( i dont know how it happened ) so it was a good call to swap the axles ,the disco is up in the air now with no axle and im sorting the best of both axles (bolts ,brakes, bushes and arms) to put it back together in the morning . i will see how this works out
